What are the advantages of an uprated clutch such as a Helix one above the std pug clutch?

I'm going to order one in the next few days however before i spend 250 quid on one from here- http://performance.rallynuts.com/render.asp?doc=/helix-clutches.htm i'd like to know what the benefits are.

Does anyone have a helix clutch? Does it bite harder or something?

It needs replacing anyway so if a Helix is worth it then i'll pay the extra. The car is going to end up with a power figure close to 150bhp @the fly by the time shes finished so i dont know if that should have any impact on my choice?

Cheers chaps :)

i asked sandy about clutches etc and he recommended just getting a helix cerametalic clutch plate (115 quid).

i suppose the more you replace the better but it depends what power you are running as to whether its needed.

If Sachs do a sporting clutch i'd recommend it, i used a Sachs sporting clutch on my old 2.1 corsa and it coped no probs. :)

RichE is using the cerametallic Helix plate with an OE cover and it's coping fine with 170-180bhp (yet to be confirmed :p) approx and remains as easy to use as the std one. Get the helix cover if you're going charged though.

If you go for a cerametallic cltuch. alot more clamping force between the plates...but be careful as the biting point can be really sharp and unforgiving.

The force needed to dip the cltuch can go up as well depending on the pressure plate "fingers and how strong they are.

Pulling off at the lights or hill starts become interesting. but less slip equals more grip equals power!!!!

Id check to see if AP do one, Im sure Peugeot sport have them...They definately do group N clutch kits for the 106 from memory.

The std pug one costs 174.87 from my local pug dealer.

The best price i have found for the entire Helix clutch kit is 250.67 + 10 delivery (organic).

Can anyone get them cheaper?

Also, whats the difference between an organic & a ceramic clutch? Is one better than the other?

Is this for a standard clutch kit? You can get a Valeo (OEM) kit from buypartsby.com for under 60! That's what I got anyway. Are you really thinking of running enough power to warrant an aftermarket clutch Danny? PM me your plans mate!

Cerametallic one can take more power and torque. These are 300 stg for the lot.
