the bolts need turning and it should all slide out , the bolts arent hexy at the top , they are oblong and hold the drive shaft bearing in place

do ya need any special tools to get the shaft off, am thinking about doing my drivers side one this weekend, but heard that the nut on the hub bit is a bitch to get off, i only have fairly short wrenches and a 0.5m ish torque wrench, do i need to go shopping? :p
Also, gsf have these,
"T43805M DRIVESHAFT-RH 106 1.6 8V - 4 STUD WHEELS £69.00"
in stock, why the hell are they so cheap??? other places want £120+ for them!

hub nut isnt to bad, i just got our long bar, with a 30mm socket and put my back into it! lol

16 and 17mm spanners to undo the wishbone from the strut...

dno if u will have to take the droplink and track rod end off the strut just to change the driveshafts, i had them off but thats coz i was lowering the car too.

should get a new hub nut with the driveshaft, i just got the long bar out again, did it as tight as i could then punched a notch in it.

i got my driveshafts from Partco, they were about £52 + vat each, with about a 30 quid surcharge, which u get back wen u take the old driveshaft back in exchange.

when i did my driveshaft all i needed was the driveshaft nut and alot of brute force, i then took out the bottom ball joint bolt so i could lever the strut away from the body and the drive shaft out of the hub and then the box. There was no need to undo the drop link or the steering rack etc. Granted i got my mate to lever the strut out the way with a length of rope while i extracted the driveshaft.

cheers guys, i take it you get an intermediate bearing included on the drivers shaft?
Can't be bothered with taking old one back, its not much more from gsf, and saves hassle.
Only tool i need to buy is a ball joint seperator then, although according to haynes they need torquing up to 245nm, my wrench will only go to 180, so guess I'll have to just give it some welly!

nah i didnt need a ball joint seperator. Sorry i think i may have explained it wrong. Theres a bolt that holds the wishbone onto the lower part of the strut, i just undid that, its like a clamp, so when you undo it, the wishbone drops out.

so when you undo it, the wishbone drops out.

Or when you smack it hard for an hour it comes out

!!! i wish mine did! got a ball joint seperator (on of the fork ones), but you have to be careful where you place it or you'll bugger the protection cap thingy. I need a proper clamp one the rate my shafts are going in and out lol. jus done the clutch and need a passengers side driveshaft and to sort the front struts! would have done it all at once but the MOT was due and i need the car for work
