what software is used via laptop to remap ecus?

I don't actually know but could be a good idea to search Google or P2P file-sharing networks.

I once heard of a friend of a friend of a friend etc who downloaded some base maps. He used 1 setting for general driving inc. motorway, and he had another setting for the track.

Obviously this wouldn't be as good as getting the car properly set-up, as it isn't bespoke, but it's much cheaper!
