that looks really nice and clean mate :) maybe a tad low but depends how ya like it i spose

29-11-2005, 10:38 PM
Its a wee bit on the low side at the front.. Thinking about changing the springs after xmas.
Other things to come first though...

Looks lovely imo, maybe a slightly bit low, but nothin that cant be sorted!

29-11-2005, 10:56 PM
that must be a horrible drive on anyroad with any kind of bumps and lumps, body and wheels look nice but its just horrbily low.

Will be great once back to a reasonable height

29-11-2005, 11:01 PM
If im honest i totally love it however id probably raise it 10/20mm and change the exhaust!

otherwise i absolutly love it think it looks great on them wheels!

29-11-2005, 11:03 PM
The height doesnt bother me to much, but it will be getting diff front springs soon to bring it up a wee bit.
Doesnt get used for long journeys etc so not too bothered about comfort.

29-11-2005, 11:04 PM
10mm? youd hardly even notice the difference, imagine that ride height going round a country lane, no travel at all! even on my xsi which is lowered 60mm the ride is terrible, that rallye is down about 80mm at the mo!

comfort wont be bad at all, but the handling will suck!

29-11-2005, 11:04 PM
Nice wheels - are they Revolution? What size are they?

29-11-2005, 11:05 PM
There 15" Compomotive Mos mate.. with 45 profile tyres..

29-11-2005, 11:23 PM
lovely wheels mate, ive got them on my car. they look stunning with my blue car.

29-11-2005, 11:24 PM
that looks very clean and nice mate.....raising the suspension would be the first thing i would do though, not only is it crap handling it doesnt do components or chassis any good either

mmm, I WANT those wheels on mine! :D
However, I've always thought that cars with the rear wheels sitting inside the rear wheel arch look particularly stupid, and like others have already said it's gonna compromise handling in a big way!
Apart from that it looks very clean, especially considering the weather atm ;)

driveshafts are one that comes to mind, they wear out much more quickly like that and are known to even pop out if they collapse from being lowered too much.

29-11-2005, 11:35 PM
looks like it's about the same at the rear as mine is:

29-11-2005, 11:39 PM
nah that one is defo lower than yours russ at least another 20mm lower.

Rob Lyon
29-11-2005, 11:53 PM
loving the wheels. Makes me want to lower mine :D

That second picture is messing with my head tho. It looks like the nearside rear is at like 60 degress rather than 90 degrees. A bit like a bad photoshop or as if the car is only lowered on one side.

Its prob just me tho, it is getting late

29-11-2005, 11:55 PM
it looks nice, there was some of them wheels on ebay going cheap the other day was thinking of them for my red s1 track car but i wasnt sure how they'd look, but they look amazine !!

30-11-2005, 01:50 AM
Really nice, the wheels look great, compomotive mos are definately my favourite :)

30-11-2005, 08:36 AM
Looks good but it must handle terrible. Paintwork looks excellent for an older car.

30-11-2005, 09:46 AM
I know what your all saying about handling etc.. It has full koni adjustables and yes its pretty uncomfy but it handles really well.
Its very stiff but it doesnt jump about like some cars ive had.. But as i say it will be getting diff front springs in the future.

Thanks for all the positive comments and yes the paintwork is pretty good, apart from a few wee bits but every cars like that.

30-11-2005, 09:51 AM
Make sure you join the register ;)

may be worth you casting your eye over this too mate.

That looks really nice - those alloys look fantastic. I did notice a big difference to the handling when I replaced my alloys with steels but then they didn't look as good as yours!

Welcome to the register, and dont forget to join ;)

A very nice S1 you got there. I will echo the comments about the ride height. Raise it up and you will be surprised how much better the handling will be.

30-11-2005, 10:35 AM
I have a friend who has a set of the s1 steelies lying. Was tempted to have them refurbed and sell the comp mos but really like the way it looks with them..

How do I join the register??

Steels for the winter, alloys for the summer and trackdays. Depending if you fancy light wheels or a larger contact area with the ground you can swap that statement round;)

30-11-2005, 11:10 AM
looks really clean, as said previously, get it up a bit (ooo err tongue out )

30-11-2005, 04:56 PM
lookin good there mate. wheels really suit the more boxy s1 than s2 i think. looks like a well looked after wee beastie though.

30-11-2005, 05:00 PM
Get the spare wheel back underneath too (if its not too low at the back) ........the lower it is down the better.

I made this mistake when I first got my S1, and it deffo makes a difference lower down and centralised as much as poss.

It looks great ... but it's a bit low...

30-11-2005, 05:50 PM
dont change nothing mate looks lovly you have done well

30-11-2005, 06:09 PM
it does look good, but handling will be compromised. Exhaust looks a little on the large side, but thats just my opinion :)

30-11-2005, 09:56 PM
praise you all i can say is FAPPING GORGEOUS!!!!!!! that is the nicest S1 i have ever seen!!! nice 1 m8! top stuff.

30-11-2005, 10:34 PM
Definetly too low at the front, not only does it compromise handling it'll shorten the life of driveshafts and increase the risk of the sump or exhaust making contact with something hard (I know someone who ripped a hole on their sump on a dodgy drain cover oops )
Might get away with leaving the rear as it is and just remove the spare wheel all together, losing that bit of weight will bring it up a touch and with some new front springs it should still look low but not excessively so ;)

Also, that exhaust looks like a Saxo one, sell it and fit a shiny new Peugeot Sport system :D

01-12-2005, 12:52 AM
maybe a bit 2 low and i dont like the exhaust...agree a pugsport wud be spot on but it does look gorgeous!! Def keep those wheels...they look mint :D

Baz F
01-12-2005, 12:55 AM
looks fine,...it works doesnt it? yeah
then leave it the damm fluck alone! you'll leran if you'v neva had a pug, soon as you start "fixing things it all goes to pot...
great car btw ;)

01-12-2005, 12:13 PM

wheels look great im after some new wheels for my red s1 but my mate has mo's on his car so i want something different!

red s1's are the sexiest car ever. period.

take the spare wheel out completely!

01-12-2005, 02:40 PM
And do what when I get a puncture? lol... Really cant see takin the spare out making much if any difference..

01-12-2005, 05:30 PM
carry a can of tyre weld ;) a loss of 16kgs should be equal to about half a tank of fuel, if you cant notice the car feeling different with a full/half empty tank, dont worry about it, i certainly can though!

01-12-2005, 06:11 PM
looks well that!!

02-12-2005, 12:41 PM
have you added anything to the exterior

03-12-2005, 03:33 PM
