Don't like the look as much as the old ones, but they must be seriously light!

05-12-2005, 01:49 PM
Considering they are Oz, they look quite cheap

I was not in any rush to change my superl's but i wont ever bother now... Those wheels are trully appaling. The only plus is that they come in Pug offset so no need for spacers...Why didnt OZ do that with the superls? cry

probably because thats where there making most of there money. its a business as the end of the day

they are rank.... oh well! just boosted Speedline sales for Rallye owners heh lol

supply is based on demand.

i guess there wasn't a demand for the SuperL's in relation to something new and different to the same old product designs.

i think they are pretty cool, on the right car of course.

Thin spokes are very chav.

I often seen such designs on 5-door 306's and it looks poo, especially as can see the rear drums too!

05-12-2005, 04:36 PM
granted its a chavs market out there so they supply the chavs

BUT and its a big one

i cant see chavs speeding that sort of money on wheel ................980 for 15" (with budget tyres i shall add) when they can get pretty much any other 15" wheel on the market for 400 its not gonna happen

its a motorsport wheel they should have made it look motorsport in my opinion, they have a chav range and thats where this wheel design belongs

I'm with Bonnie on this one, they look really cheap for being OZ :( I'd be scared incase they melted at high brake temp very happy

amazing that every forum i have read has slated them!

points to consider are:

1: superl's were designed to be light, looks was low down the list to designers. the ultraLs weigh less

2:supply/demand etc

3: superl's needed 20mm spacers & longer bolts to fit which is not good at all IMO. ultraLs come in direct ET15/18 4x108 so no spacers etc.

so in my opinion they are a better wheel, thus a shame they don't look as nice as superLs. to me weight is what matters! :D

They may not have designed them to look chavvy. It could just be a case of function before form. The spokes look a fair bit thinner than super ls so they are going to keep the weight down. Thats what the Super Ls are all about really, whos says these new wheels havent been designed for the motorsport market, anyone serious about lightweight wheels isnt going to care what their wheels look like if they can save 500g a corner. I havent got a clue what the new weight is, but im pretty sure they will be lighter especially at that price.

i would personaly never have an extremely ugly chavvy wheel just because it was la little bit light good night

But then im sure your not bothered about spending an extra 400 on wheels that will save you unsprung weight on each corner.

Some people are, and OZ design these type of wheels for this type of person.

im not keen on them doh

05-12-2005, 09:44 PM
If they balanced the wheel and tyre better to start with then about 200g could have been saved - look at all those weights on it!

I love the look of superleggeras, and they are light to boot, killing two birds with one stone.

These on the otherhand, they look cheap - its that angle in the spoke that does it I think.

Also they are pictured on a saxo OMG CHAV! SAXO MORE LIKE CHAVO LOL HHAHA

I'm not keen on the looks, but almost by definition they aren't chav, as they are function over form, and cost a fortune!

I think they are just a modern update of a great looking wheel. Look at most standard alloys on stuff like Astons they all seem to be going a bit square!

Personally i think these would look great in black or anthracite and 14" on my 7. But if they are 900 odd for 15s i think i will stick with my F1s for the moment.

Need get hold of some of the CF centre caps, anyone know if you can get them direct from OZ, the lad in halfords reckoned they about 15 each, but it wouldnt be the first time someone from halfords had made a wild guess at something.

05-12-2005, 10:49 PM
shockingly they are not far off being 15 a piece, last time i rang up for a customer they were 13 each

although i havnt worked there for a while so things could have changed

05-12-2005, 10:49 PM
I like them, but i dont like them

06-12-2005, 12:09 PM
i don't like them, but i don't like them tongue out

im still undecided... wouldnt suit my rallye, but my tastes in wheels are very particular...

just ask James, i tried explaining what rim i want on mine and failed doh
