there is a post somewhere which was saying that there is a slight difference, although i cant see how there would be a noticable difference with just the tailpipe changed

3" shouldnt be called a pugsport in my opinion though ;) a scorpian exhaust made for the chavs lol

rubbish ;) I thought the 3" magnex was the original pugsport and the 2" scorpion is the interloper... very happy

almost as heated a debate about this as which is better S1/S2 (which for the record is clearly a WHITE s1!!) rofl

thats not how i saw it rofl

plenty of people said that the pugsport was 2" not 3" from magnex, i remember it just being you that "claimed" there was a 3"

3" looks to big and chav either way (IMO)

I'm never seen one - just go on the knowledge of the RR in general. I thought it had been accepted that the original Pugsport was 3" :p

Maybe I missed something? ;)

Matt_H
13-12-2005, 12:33 PM
I hardly claimed. I backed it up with proof. I have seen magnex 3" Pugsport exhausts in real life. Not just internet knowledge but in real life. The one I am most familiar with (and that I believe you claimed was just a bodge) was bought from Mark iirc.

I think that my having seen them for real beats your never having seen one. I bet you never seen a real Veyron, does that mean they don't exist too?

Should be pointed out it's very easy to weld a 3in tailpipe onto a Pug Sport tongue out And the Magnex Pug Sport I saw was 2in.

Back on topic, Indigorallye is the only person I know with one of the new 3in 'Pug Sports', said to sound a little bit deeper but stil raspy.

james you're gonna get a three inch cos you are a chav! or barry as me and my mates have started to use. good word barry. you can call some one a barry. someone (not me) can be barrying about i.e. burnout or other "chav" doings, or you can go barrying which is where you go out looking for barrys to laugh at in which doing so you need a 2" exhaust otherwise they'll think you're one of them!

whoops! sorry. my point was i changed from 3" to 2" cos i thought it looked too chavvy and was not fitting with the look i was going for

jameshilton

Mick - I don't think this looks chav:

It's definitely not a Magnex when you look at it - and I just don't like the outward rolled 2"... and since it sounds virtually the same (deeper sounds good to me anyway) and offers the same performance I welcome the choice that Mark has managed to negotiate with Scorpion - so good work ;)

I'll be getting one asap.

What was the question???
I've got a three inch one. Why? Cause I like it more than the 2" one. I don't care if you want to call me a chav or a barry. FFS I've been called worse.
As for the sound, well I don't know really. I didn't buy it for it to sound good. It is a little raspy, certainly not too deep (as per Peco's of old) but hey, each to their own.
Fit is excellent. I would reccomend one.
PS Only PugSport's I have seen are 2"

ive got a magnex 3" but its not a pugsport, so whats the difference??

a pugsport has alot thinner s/s than other aftermarket systems making it light (and raspy)

your 3" magnex is probably alot heavier than a 2" magnex pugsport

Pug Sports are now made by Scorpion.

I think thats what had me confused - the Group A Magnex 3" rather then the Group N... good man Rob.

Group A Magnex:

...on Matt P's 16v'er

a pugsport has alot thinner s/s than other aftermarket systems making it light (and raspy)
your 3" magnex is probably alot heavier than a 2" magnex pugsport

I would have thought the Group A one was also thinner stainless? Ben's tail pipe looks identical to Matt P's Group A one - Ben - is yours loud as f**K?

13-12-2005, 04:29 PM
The Magnex back box which I took off weighed about 4-5kg's more than the Pug Sport

G-sport
13-12-2005, 04:31 PM
off topic i would like to have mattP's S1 lol

Gregg
13-12-2005, 04:39 PM
The exhaust Ben and Matt P have look like the ordinary Magnex cat back system for the S1 Rallye, which Dynofiend has on his XSi 16v and I used to have. Just to confuse matters, the back box of this system will match up to the centre of a Pugsport as they split in the same place:confused:

The Mangnex system, especially the back box is much heavier. It is still a good system when teamed up with a decat though, much deeper sound but can be quite boomy. (Dyno will find this out if he ever fits his decat pipe tongue out )

I personally think the 2" looks stupid. It would be better hidden away. I wouldn't want it looking stupidly big either so I think 3" would be the size to go for. Just my opinion.

SLIK
13-12-2005, 05:31 PM
2" doesn't look stupid, it doesn't look too far off what pug may have selected as standard had they gone a similar direction to the 306 style, it is just effective, 2" pipe 2" exit, makes sense...

I don't disagree that I may be happier if it were both quieter and hidden, but all good.

nope true but its not as cheap as a decat pipe and getting under your car once a year tongue out

Robsparky
14-12-2005, 09:07 PM
yep my thoughts aswell, i'm caving into the de cat cos it is the cheaper way and it's only gonna be a couple of hours under the car max when mot time flys round

14-12-2005, 09:14 PM
couple of hours :o its 2 bolts and 10 minutes lol

Robsparky
14-12-2005, 09:27 PM
well i'll be doing mine fairly soon, we shall see, it'll be a first time, so i'll say 1 hour to swap them, if i do better then i'm a hero

G-sport
14-12-2005, 09:31 PM
first time takes longer

when i did mine i was taking it on and off constantly trying to get it to sit how i wanted to,

after the 20th time its take literally minutes, and its a millions times easier with a racthet spanner as sockets struggle to reach the passenger side spring bolt thing

Rob Lyon
14-12-2005, 09:38 PM
i took mine off with out it being jacked up with 1 hand :D

i found it easier to zip tie the ratchet socket to the exhaust and then use the ratchet spanner;) Oh and parking up a kerb can give you a tad more room. i learnt that one the hard way
