first of all theres alot of birthdays todays so happy birthday to everyone on that list:D

anyway 16v 106 engine, how many coil packs are there for it?? just 1 or a few different ones just trying to see if i have the right one on my engine cause it dosen't appear to work and it took a little messing about to get it on ! cheers guys

My local specialist informed me that there are actually two sorts of coil pack for 16v engines. I think one was 96 and the other was nearer 200 odd. :eek:

I have no idea what the differences are though...

ah ha cool dont supose you know if one would work in place of the other or does it have to be the right one for the loom, if that makes any sense?

he told me he had to bust a big of the coil pack he had to get it to fit-so im guessing hes got the wrong one which is why his 16v wont spark up! oops

right e o then guys, feeling like poo today so got me good old dad to have a look for me;)
hes told me the engine number is nfx 10fxip psa 0825833. ( not sure if thats right but i'm to dead to care, and the only numbers on the coil pack are at one end B.B.C.2.2 and at the other end 96 363 378 80 2526182a. so does any one know if this is the right part??:confused:

DING DONG BOYS AND GIRLS IT WORKS (KIND OF)
after many weeks of messing about my 16v s2 appears to be working very happy very happy very happy very happy sloved the problem buy using the coil pack from the 8v engine on the 16v one. seems to work (will get round to getting the right one soon though!)

oh big thanks to everyone one who has given me help and addive along the way, but biggest thanks to BAZ :D guiness guiness top bloke been very helpful along the way!

How have you wired up your engine??? You now have a freak 16v engine like mine and Ian B's, using old-style coil packs and HT leads. :D

he told me he managed to get some sort of 2 plu loom for a gti engine and it pluged stright in?
everythign seems to be workin now...frikkin thing lol
Bet he'll brake it tongue out

Really? Weird. Might actually be an S2 Rallye loom still. :D

well don't know whos right there but to be honest i couldn't tell you what sort of loom is on there;) thinks its a hybrid evolution type thing:o

NO baz im not going to break it! ( baz is just upset cause mine is working and his ain't:D )
