157bhp! :yikes:

the standard bhp from a 16v vts engine is 120bhp right...

steve k

i want to do the same to my 16v engine but got put off last night as my dad says time i coem to see the car no-one will want it, plus if you want to have a quciker car buy a new one and dont fidle with it...thats when things go wrong:( .
normally i would be like yeanh yeah yeah, bvut my dads always right when it comes to my car as he has been there and done that so he says

is it really worth it in the long run do you think?:heh:

Alot can be said for that after doing mine. This will be the last and only car i totally muck around with!

Hope your happy with it, we were pleased to see how much extra it produced. Yet more proof that the 708 cat cams work really really really well on a standard engine and inlet.

why mate - whats up with yours - I thought your re-map went well.

Ross - I agree that sometimes you can de-value a car or knacker it up completely by messing with it - but thats the risk you take - if you know what your doing and do it sensibly you should be ok.

good result, bet it shifts now.

do it ross, only young once an all that. when you want your nice comfy car thatll hold its value, dont modify it, as it is squeeze some more outa your vts, fun fun fun :D

also can always be put back to standard.

na nought wrong with it, but it's alot of hassle and money at the end of the day doing up the rallye. Just meant next time i'll just leave it alone:off topic: sorry

standard 16v vts engine is 120bhp and 107 ib/ft right...

Ross Davis
14-04-2006, 11:40 PM
yeah thats right freedo... wont be that any more mind as its a 1998 reg so would of lost some performance.

thanks for all the inout guys wil have to have a long think...could be a mistake but the agin if it isnt.. you only live once lol.:goodnight:

what torque figure did it make mate?

Dave P

157bhp with 708 Cat cams... funny that... ;)

Benji
15-04-2006, 09:31 AM
i have to admit, i was amazed at the figure, was quite pleasent to drive as well!

Wayne hasn't got a lead for the HT pick up from the battery (so dyno knows rev's, as 16v has the over plug coil pack & no HT's) so we havent got a torque figure.

good stuff:) have you uprated the suspension or brakes?:o

charlie_sav

Think thats the Fith car now with bang on 157bhp, torque should be in the region of 120-125lbft,

Sounds nice mate.

I want to do my Gti as well but noone in Cyprus is trustworthy for me to remap the three plug ECU.

Charlie any news on that KMS pack? I remember you didn't produce one for the three plug ECUs

weird they are all coming out with exactly 157bhp - do you have a pic of the dyno print out?

jameshilton
17-04-2006, 09:23 PM
why is that wierd?

but thats some good power though !!!

I'd be more than happy with 157bhp outta the 16v engine:clap: . Do you think the ecosse filter made a real difference???

I found with the ecosse copy's (as seen on ebay) they are quite restrictive with a rather small inlet aperture so as a forced air induction filter they're not that good.

jameshilton
18-04-2006, 09:19 AM
if all the cars have the same mods, then knowing the assumptions made when you do get a figure - then its not too far fetched. I'm guessing its rounded to 157 and not bang on every time.

good power / weight ratio with that - people with 150bhp+ how do you find putting all that power down on the road?

mattwesty
18-04-2006, 09:21 AM
these mods are what i have planned next. where is the best place for fitting an mapping?

Lee C

d othey map aswell? anyone got idea on prices?

Benji
18-04-2006, 10:35 AM
Yerp we get them mapped for ya. Marky is the one to ask about prices, im just the muppet that fits em :)

mattwesty
18-04-2006, 12:32 PM
i'll have to get in touch with mark then. hopefully get this sorted soon.

Ben - can you PM me a list of parts i will need other than the cams please.

There are loads of 16v floating about with these cams now. Not all have made 157, but its probably fair to say thats good figure to expect for anyone else wanting to go this route tongue out

What is the power @ wheels? If this was done at Waynes place you should have a figure? :)

Edit: Graph posted as I was typing that! I see now :D

I'm gonna be running pretty much the same mods but with Kent PT51 cams rather than Catcam 708's.

Does anyone know how these cams differ? Can i expect to see a similar result?

Steve K - Are you using the standard filter in the ecosse clone or a bigger one?

Danny

steve k
18-04-2006, 09:38 PM
using the standard one mate

106rallye.co.uk
18-04-2006, 09:51 PM
remember these are "raw" uncorrected figures from waynes dyno so depending on the air temp and pressure on the day the bhp maybe a few less......wayne has a chart of all the correction figures to mulitply the raw bhp by....
