Guys,

just after a few opinions really, i currently run 15" turinis on yoko a539s and hi-spec four pot brakes with 288mm (i think, they came with the hi-specs) on my 16v s1..

But i've been thinking lately about changing to 206 gti brakes (ive heard these are plenty good enough and going back to steelies with say yoko a048s instead..

obviously i could prob sell my hi-specs and turinis for abit more than i'd pay for steelies and 206 brakes, and id use the extra to replace the stickers and a few other bits..

What do you guys think?

Oh, and if anyone has steelies with semi slicks and 206 gti brakes who would like to upgrade to hi specs and turinis.. let me know lol

I just changed from steelies to Tuinis with Yoko A539s, and to a 206 GTi brake upgrade :D

I prefere the steelies to the Turinis, though im keeping the steelies for track! Also the 206GTi brakes seem decent upgrade (mine are still bedding in).

You could sell the brakes and wheels and do well from them! The Yoko A048s are pricey though?

If I was you id do it!!

yea i just remember seeing a chap selling steelies with those tyres on them, that would be ideal as if i went for steelies i would want pukka tyres... i'm seriously considering it, just i cant go without wheels or brakes so need to do it all at the same time lol

oh yeah that Dilema, I always brought the goods and worried about transport after :p

Yeah my mate luke is selling some steelies with Yokos on, those just 2. The other 2 are tyres with the steelies are Maxisport Wet tyres I believe?

If I were you and money wasn't a factor I'd be tempted to keep the wheels and 4 pots and stick some A048s on.

yea its a hard choice, as the brakes are nothing short of incredible, and look awesome, as do the wheels, but i think from a sheer performance/driving point of view i need steelies... i'll put a part ex post in the for sale section.. lol

I've been toying with the idea of going to bigger wheels, but I don't know if I can be arsed really! I used to run the exact same kit you're thinking of going to, although I used A032Rs instead of A048Rs in 185/55s with steelies and 206 brakes. I kinda miss those tyres for road abuse. Except the 70-85 price tag each...

Edit: You bastard. I think I want my old steelies with A032Rs back now.

Old ones. Which are mostly spanked by now. I've sort of sold them along with a mint set of S2 steels. But I might ask for them back after FCS. :D:D:D

Yes, I am on smugness overload. In fact, I was contemplating putting the link into Benji's post about his new A048Rs as well. But it would push my thread off of the main forum page and, thus, reduce my smugness levels.

I am very smug. Smug I am. Did I tell you I'm smug? Yes, that's right. You can all call me Smug now. Thanks. :veryhappy:
