I have owned this car for about three months now and have loved every minute of it, unfortunately though it is time for me to part with the car as i need something newer and more economical. Since owning it however i have carried out the following work:

New head gasket and cam belt change done by my mechanic
New fan belt
New Bosch HT leads
New NGK spark plugs
New oil and oil filter
New fuel filter
Replacement fan
Replacement fuel pump
This is basically a complete service as the previous owner had also gave the car new brake discs, pads and shoes a few weeks before selling the car to me.

This car is in ok condition, it is far from mint but with my low reserve price this could be a bargain for somebody. Basically the interior is in very good condition, there is a slight tear in the back on the drivers seat and the parcel shelf has holes where 6x9s have previosly been put but nothing which would be a major concern.

The exterior isnt perfect, the passenger side door lock has had somebody try to break in, which has left a hole around 7mm in size next to the lock, however the lock still works fine. There are a couple of stone chips here and there and the bonnet is slightly dented. The car would also benefit by having a rallye, or an xsi bumper on as it currently has a standard 1litre bumper which in my opinion doesnt look as good. The paint is in good condition though considering the car is just over ten years old. It has also had a slight front end accident prior to me owning the car which apparantly wasnt declared to the insurance. The inside drivers-side wing has been repaired by having a new panel welded in. I had this checked over by a mechanic who said the weld was very good and that the car was fine with it(basically the steering column etc hasnt been damaged)

The biggest problem though is that it carries an intermittent fault which as of yet i havent had time to repair. It is a very common fault with the rallyes and basically the car sometimes cuts out when the car is stationary. It goes through stages where it can be fine for days, then, for some reason it will cut out when its stationary, but the next day it will be fine again. Links to possible solutions to this fault can be found here:

The only modifications were done before i owned the car and are a K&N panel filter with the standard rallye airbox, and a decat pipe with the standard backbox and manifold.

The car comes with six months tax and mot.

Overall this car has the potential to be turned into a low mileage mint condition rallye which could fetch around £2000. Unfortunately i dont have the time to fix the car up how i would like though so i have decided to sell it so i can buy a newer car.

Ive got spares consisting of a driveshaft, wishbone, wing, alternator and a exhaust system with a cat on for mot times. These will all be included with the car if it sells for £1200 or more.

The car comes with four MOT's and also a service history book which is completed until 52921 miles. This all ties in and still has the original engine in the car to prove that the 61k miles is a genuine reading and it has not been tampered with. Pictures can be provied upon request if nessecary.

Hey teacake, F**K you. Youve only just joined up as a member yet you think it gives you the right to throw your weight around and trying to stop a sale. The rules state that if you are not commenting on buying the car then you shouldnt comment so its not a very good way of trying to make friends on here as this club is very friendly. The car is not 'a shed' as you stated and you would have brought it had it not have been for the boot which i didnt even know about and have since told everybody else who has been interested that the problem is there.

lol, i think youve managed to patch the story together between you. I brought the car knowing that it had a slight front ender, but didnt know about the rear and not being mechanically minded i didnt look and even if i had of looked i wouldnt have thought it to be a problem. Anyway, as teacake says, he came to view the car, his mechanic mate spotted the fault and told me about it and now whoever has asked about it i have told them that the fault is there! lol, cheers to all of you who said good luck with the sale. I may end up stripping it in the summer though if nobody buys it!

sorry for the remark i made, but i bought it off ebay and then drove for 5 solid hours to find a car that did not meet the description! even though you didnt know about the boot, i still thought that the sate of the car was the opposit of what you told me. in my opinion it needed a full respray as there were deep scratches on each panel (even though you cannot see these in the pictures!) and very serious stone chips.

how would you feel? if you wasted over £60 in petrol and wasted a full day travelling up and down the country for nothing?

anyway no offence, and hope you get something for it!

The auction stated that the vehicle was not in perfect condition in terms of bodywork, and what do you expect from a car which is now 12 years old? There were no 'deep scratches' but i agree about the stonechips, however if you believe that a couple of stonechips are worthy of a full respray then you must have money to burn. Also if your on about the arches and stonechips, just ask anybody on here and im sure if theirs havent been resprayed then they will look like mine do.
In terms of what your saying about the journey/fuel etc, i drove all the way up to manchester to pick this car up one evening and got it back to find that two weeks later it needed the head gaket doing, which i have sorted but now the ICV needs sorting. All in all ive drove the car for around a month having owned it for about 5 and have given up on it now which is why this thread was down in the depths of the forum until you ressuricted it

il agree with damsmi2002 here as ive also seen the car in the flesh. if the hole by the lock was fixed, the arches resprayed and a proper rallye bumper on the front with fog grills it wouldnt be a bad little car. the paint was ok on the car for its age, it wasnt perfect like all 12ish year old cars but i didnt see any deep scratches.

i think people are most put off by the look from the front, maybe stick an xsi or rallye bumper on there (painted), a proper rectangle plate and it will sell a lot easier. even spray the arches, all these jobs are only minor and can be undertaken in a weekend and will make the car easier to sell as its closer to original.

good luck

and not to sound too negative but when you buy a car off ebay you have to expect the unexpected :goodnight:

thanks for the comment dan, i think that youve summed it up really. I agree with you completely its just that with it being xmas i havent been bothered and now its bad weather and im not the sort of person who likes to be messing around with cars whilst getting rained on so ive just kinda overlooked doing what you suggested. Ive got an oblong plate at work but again, its just getting round to putting it on! besides which, im driving my corolla at the mo so its not as if im relying on the rallye to get me anywhere. Anyway, thanks again for your un-biased opinion
