looking good mate, what did u use to paint the white bit with?
Kemixx
12-04-2009, 10:05 AM
Used a silver touchup pen from halFRAUDS. £4.50!! Rip off, but they have the sticks that you can use as pens aswell as brushes, and using the pen makes it loads easier.

Few updates. Good and bad.
First off, chipwizards rolling road. Car made 152.7bhp on the rollers which I was very chuffed with :)
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image002.jpg
Then did another curborough sprint day :) good turnout and loads of track time.
http://kemixx.net/gallery/thumbs/lrg-42-curb_april_09_033.jpg
New decals..
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image033.jpg
Removed the lower strutbrace when I replaced my sriveshaft that snapped the other week. Pretty badly bent, and I can now get over speedbumps again!
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image050.jpg
Window decals..
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image053.jpg
And freshly painted rockers..
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image054.jpg
Then Aniversarallye - Mallory Park :)
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/ritp057.jpg
'till second/third lap and spun off on the esses and hit the tyre wall and buggered my wing/arch..
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image056.jpg
Then.. the bastard thing dumped all its oil out of the rockers and left me with a knocking bottom end :( bye bye well built engine. Luckily I have a spare 16v in the garage which i'm currently getting ready to stick in for now, and i'm going to rebuild the engine that's coming out and hopefully refit it in a few months. Heres how she stands now..

Yeah he told me he beat you twice on the strip :p
he beat my times but i never went against him :( i was crap he was spot on
really bad luck with the car mate, have you thought about dropping the head off the original and putting it on the spare block ? get it up and running again on the same map ?
Kemixx
25-05-2009, 08:41 AM
thought about it james but i'm in a bit of a rush to get the car back on the road for FCS/curborough etc this month. think i'm just going to drop the other engine in for now then over the next few months rebuild the other engine. still going to put the lightened flywheel on the new engine etc though

25-05-2009, 08:45 AM

gutted for you mate, have you left you engine loom in the car??
Kemixx
25-05-2009, 04:22 PM
yeah at the mo lol. probably going to connect it all up to the new engine before putting the engine in the car though, what do you think?
hillbilly
25-05-2009, 05:45 PM
yer mate loads easier, you shoulda droped the lump out with it on, loads quicker lol.
Kemixx
25-05-2009, 06:00 PM
lol wasnt too bad getting it out anyway. was surprised because i thought it would be a lot harder. only taken about 5 hours if that to get it out (probably take some people on here half that lol)
its been good though because with the engine out i found why my exhaust was rattling, why my window washers hardly worked and why i couldnt flash on my headlights. i'll probably get it all in now though and end up with even more problems lol
hillbilly
25-05-2009, 06:03 PM
how many hours! lol well if you need a hand getting it in just give me a bell. took me around 5 to put mine back, took about 2-3 to get it out lol
Kemixx
25-05-2009, 06:10 PM
ah right so the hard part is to come then lol. im off work wednesday/thursday - are you around then?

Kemixx
29-05-2009, 11:18 PM
just a standard gti engine on mani, pugsport, ind kit, lightened flywheel and mapped ecu. probs not much more than 130bhp :( going to get my 150+er back in eventually tho. or maybe higher spec. taken me at least 10mins to perfect this post and make it readable. mega hangover tomorow no doubt

rofl working on mine 2day dude, did it start up ok after u sorted them wire's out?
Kemixx
30-05-2009, 02:40 PM
Yep it's alive! First turn of the key :D shame ive lost the bit for the accelerator cable because now I can't drive the cunt. Trying to find it/trying to find places that sell solderless nipples :(
Cyb3r
30-05-2009, 03:20 PM
sealed the rockers properly this time?
Kemixx
30-05-2009, 04:42 PM
yeah. took it for a spin round the villege and feels a little ropey. was about to sort out clutch/accelerator and noticed top hose was pissing water again from where it joins the thermostat housing and turns out its because theres a crack in it. why did peugeot use a plastic end? ffs. so now on hunt for a new one of those. and a cambelt because this one is whining and the engine has been sat for over a year.
DansWhiteRocket
30-05-2009, 04:55 PM
Try a bike shop Ben for the throttle cable end thing ;) if the cambelts whining its probably too tight
Kemixx
30-05-2009, 06:00 PM
yeah hillbillys gona come down next week and give me a hand changing it. picked one up now from motor components. fits like a glove. only problem with it at the mo is the hole is to small to take the whole cable so I need to drill it out a bit. dont suppose you have a thermostat housing dan? :/
DansWhiteRocket
30-05-2009, 06:16 PM
the whole thing that mounts to the engine? might have one i'll have a route int garage when im at home next
Kemixx
30-05-2009, 06:20 PM
ok mate cheers when you next at home? trying to get the car on the road monday/tuesday. only really need the plastic bit that bolts to the thermostat housing that clamps in the thermostat :)
DansWhiteRocket
30-05-2009, 06:22 PM
shiz not home till then bud :/ you could try using a JP4 one off a C2 etc they have a metal hose-to-thermostat thingy :p
Kemixx
30-05-2009, 06:43 PM
ah thats what i've been thinking about getting! didnt know they existed though! Do they mate up with the gti housing?
DansWhiteRocket
30-05-2009, 06:48 PM
you just replace the whole thing - the plastic and the metal bit :) straight swap :)
Kemixx
30-05-2009, 07:01 PM
would the c2 bit fit onto the gti housing though? if worst comes to worst and i have to order from pug/citroen a whole housing would cost a bomb
DansWhiteRocket
30-05-2009, 07:02 PM
dont think so bud the gti is a 3 bolt plate thing whereas the Jp4 is 2bolt iirc
get yourself to a scrappy and nab one :D
Kemixx
30-05-2009, 07:11 PM
where am I going to find a scrappy with a gti/c2? :p
DansWhiteRocket
30-05-2009, 07:15 PM
the engines in C2 GT's, berlingo's, 307's, 206's, Xsara's :) Any local scrap yards will do :)
Kemixx
30-05-2009, 07:31 PM
don't think we've got any of those in our local :(
hillbilly
01-06-2009, 08:39 AM

Kemixx

She's alive!
Had an issue with the timing being out by 1 tooth. Whoever sold me the engine about a year ago is a complete penis. Belt was too tight, belt was the wrong way round (not that it makes much difference but still), tensioner bolt was rounded and the locking arch bit that was attached to the cam was snapped. Not only that, but the alternator is fucked and the engine was missing loads of bits.
Thanks to Plimmer, Cooper, Hillbilly off here and a load of other people that gave me a hand getting the car back on the road!
Made use of semtex brolly :p
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image065.jpg
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image064.jpg
Fresh cambelt and a bit of a tidyup..
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image066.jpg
Nice to see its back up and running how it should be :)
hillbilly
07-06-2009, 02:05 PM
waheyyyyyy bout time. got there in the end tho mate.
Kemixx
07-06-2009, 06:32 PM
yep :) now just gotta find a weekend to get the new dash in :D
Sorted out my cd player (well, got rid of the tape player and stuck in a shitty cd player i had from 2+ years ago. found out it plays mp3 cd's and CD-RW though so - bonus! :D can get rid of cd changer in boot now.
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image0681.jpg
also made a cover for the headlight I dropped till i get chance to go down the scrappy. if you want to make one yourself, all you need is a morrisons plastic bag, parcel tape and speaker cable.
http://kemixx.net/gallery/images/gallery/car/image069.jpg

glad to see the car went to someone who will look after it paul spent a bloody fortune with me on that
shame about the engine, make sure the head is ok as thats what produced most of the power adam from acc enginering spent about 2 months porting that head
Kemixx
09-06-2009, 11:36 AM
Yeah the head is staying put. I don't think there will be any issues there because I didn't run the car past the point where the bottom end was knocking.
Are aac still going? I wanted to take the engine back to them to have it rebuilt. Their prices seem really reasonable too looking at Pauls old invoice. (although prices might have gone up since 2006 lol)
Glad to find some more out about the car too. Out of interest, are you VTR turbo from 106oc?
VTR turbo
17-06-2009, 10:16 PM
no im not on 106oc
the price paul got from adam at aac was because pula has known him since he was 5 years old, adam would hapily rebuild the engine for you if not then we could do it
Kemixx
17-06-2009, 10:30 PM

Updates..
Had a few teething problems with new engine. Starter motor earth came off and ended up having to get bumped out of FCS.. fuel hose popped off, battery fell out of tray etc. My bodge bolt tightening.
Things yet to go on the car..
Custom filter box from Sam B with green cotton airfilter. Have now attached the pipe from my old raceland and some silicone hoses bits I bought at FCS. Just need to chop the pipe down and spray it then that can go on..
