I also just got a PM from rmdan from Ireland - response to my ad for an S1 gearbox. Think that makes it pretty conclusive!

Damian.H 10-09-2013 04:47 PM

I recieved one off him today re: 106gti engine loom!!!

Steve G 10-09-2013 05:16 PM

I've just got a PM from from rmdan about front springs. If he is a genuine seller perhaps he could stick a list of parts up on here.

Andrew-Ralston 10-09-2013 05:55 PM

Me to regarding grp N Dampers!

Dieseldave 10-09-2013 06:40 PM

Tell him I will collect the parts in person for you guys.

mattrallye 10-09-2013 06:46 PM

Will you take the shot gun with you Dave? ;)

Phelpo711 10-09-2013 07:21 PM

I've received one off rmdan also regarding a 4-2-1 manifold. The bellend

welshpug 10-09-2013 07:53 PM

classic spammer, will respond to wanted threads, signup process needs tightening up a little, one of the ford forums had similar a few months back.

indigorallye 10-09-2013 07:55 PM

The sign-up process has nothing to do with how scammers operate. There is nothing we can do to stop them other than be vigilant.

He's banned.

Just make minimum requirements to sell on here, may that be 300 posts, 500, 100, or minimum signup time/mandatory verification via mail, whatever. Still a good precaution. Don't contribute to the forum = No access to forsale section. I would really like to see this implemented, even if it means me not being able to sell anything for a while! I would rather buy off a 400 poster then 1 post. Although it may mean nothing, it's still a waste for a spammer to make 400 posts to gain 100 or so. Also make so many posts before you can PM or minimum signup time.

*these requirement's would be to access the whole section, so if you don't qualify you can't even view the section. (or maybe just view the forsale section so people may buy? and not sell, or see wanted adds)

indigorallye 11-09-2013 08:28 AM

We have looked at that before and it was decided not to go ahead.

Users have to take some responsibility for their actions. I wouldn't buy off someone with one post, or someone who PM's me out of the blue.
The fact that I receive very, very few PM's about rogue traders is testament to the members having their wits about them.
In fact, the last few messages I've had relate to bad traders from other forums who have registered on here. They were dealt with before they had time to rip anybody off.

Damian.H 11-09-2013 09:12 AM

I agree with Mike. A bit of common sense goes a long way. If you aren't sure, then ask someone, or don't respond

richair 11-09-2013 12:19 PM

I agree; I've bought and sold on here for a few years without issue.

This is the first time I've experienced something dodgy and common sense said something wasn't right, hence me reporting it.

I find forums that employ such rules restrict any honest members who aren't regular posters and encourages needless posts just to increase post counts.

The bottom line is be sensible, be aware and don't be a dumbass!

Dieseldave 19-11-2013 08:03 PM

Just had a PM from "ilovt" with a post count totalling 0 telling me If I still want
a quick rack to email him.

jonathanmsims 19-11-2013 09:37 PM

user ilovt contacted me in this way today regarding a satchshift i had posted a wanted ad for.

He sent this to me via a private email

I have an MA Satchshift for sale in excellent shape and condition
as seen in the attached photo. I'm asking 150 delivered. I can
arrange postage via UPS or DHL whichever you prefer and shall accept
payment via Money gram as my PayPal is dormant. What's your postage

I asked for a photo and he pulled the first one off google images and then disappeared when i questioned him

his email was

and was calling himself dan and angie oliver

Don't forget everyone - cash in person or Paypal (with fees paid) on the 'net unless you know the seller.

ETA: Damn, sniped by Mike. :D

Dieseldave 19-11-2013 10:55 PM

This was my conversation with the tool.
