Yesterday did a short track day in Slovenia, after excatly 364 days

So the exhaust is done,for now, as I will go for a change of backbox for some better sound
Am not saying the sound is bad but is not what I expected,there is no pops and isnt raspy enough Is more boomy,more like Honda than Rallye... New month new exhaust
![]() Guess I will never be happy with exhaust until I put my original one back on place. I bought Pugsport as my last solution,looks great and sound great, but only from outside. It is far quieter than previous one on start up and idle and is ok until 2800 rpm After that it continue the same droning sound till end of rpm range and is very loud. Even worse than last one which suprises me. I cant here any rasp or anything inside, doesnt even pop like last one,I hear only anoying grinding. Hope it could get better by time but I doubt it,whould be great if that sound from outside can be heared inside... Forgot to update, main reason why exhaust was so loud is becouse one screw which hold manifold was loose, the one near lambda sensor
Now is much better but still hopping that exhaust will bed in so it can pop a bit ![]() Yesterday did short video of exhaust soun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8vst7wZVok And we made 150000km, 25000 since I have it ![]() ![]() We had our first snow,was driving around a bit but on worn summer tires is not so smart as traction was very limited, I had to go driving as we have snow maybe twice in 10 years so good experience for me. ![]() Pics from yesterday: ![]() ![]() Next to fix is front left bearing and a must is to get rid of small rust spot on rear hood but all in all very happy,car is going very well. And during spring need to paint second pair of wheels for new tires so I could leave this one for track. |

Didnt update for a while, something got fixed and something got broken...
Car had full service in may, mechanic changed 3 wheel bearings, all oils and filters, incuding brake and gear fluid.He also changed few other bits. It now has new brainded brake lines as old rubberd was done ![]() This small part made engine running as new, perfect idle.Mechanic took this from 306 parked in his garage: ![]() He also cleaned engine bay: ![]() Same day after I picked up a car I went on track day to test a new amazing asphalt: ![]() ![]() It drove perfectly, did few short runs as didnt want to push it for too long. I dont know how much damage it actually got, car drives fine but he menaged to even bend my seat base and my neck still hurt a bit. Think he was doing 30-40 kmh Car will be repaired after security house decide how much cost it will be and when I found someone who is good in fixing this but am affraid car wont be the same anymore as the kick transfer to other parts and dont know if anything else got bend. I was dissapointed and am thinking of replacing it with something else but I doubt I will find car good to drive and cheap to maintain as this little Pug. I went to my mechanic this month for regular service and few other things and to take car to fix rear end but guy who does that is very busy so am still waiting for him.
Car got new belt together with water pump who was leaking a bit,one of engine mount, new radiator Nissens,seals for both crank shaft, all bearings in gearbox,oil filter and engine oil (Selenia Racing 10W-60) and he adjusted valves. Few pisc of gearbox, first time opend: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Till he was doing that I managed to refrubrished another pair of steelies for new set of same tires I had before only a bit wider, Falken ZX914 in 185/55 14 Rims are not to flat I whould say, but they tured out ok and there is no any vibrations so am happy ![]() ![]() During summer I had returned original seat back to sort my seat base for OMP seat and original exhaust was also back on until It passes MOT, so immediatlly after that both things where back on. ![]() ![]() So after all this car was ready for appropriate use ![]() My mechanic was planning to go compete in discipline called Formula Driver on Grobnik,track near Rijeka where I have been in more occasions so I went with him Good thing is that you can compete without race licence in first two classes wich are driven with original cars I did try it once two years ago but this one I will remember for rest of my life becouse it brought me this: ![]() My first trophy ever ![]() We had one training run and two runs which where counted, usually there are three runs but there was a lot of people who competed this time. My driving was solid, it could have been better but I went a bit cautiously not to harm my car, altought I did scratched it a bit in first official run as you can see in pics below: ![]() It all went away with a bit of gasoline Second drive was much better and after I crossed finish line I knew it was a good time and I was thrilled that I finished in one peace. I am thinking of maybe getting a racing licence and drive all seasson next year but I still need to have a good think, this is my only car and dont what to crash it or anything. Finally I got appointment for fixing my back end,next week I am taking my car so in two weeks it should all be sorted.
My air ventialation broke,cant turn it on, and now my clock doesnt work either when I turn on my headlights, small things but need to sort them out Will order new Osram Night breaker for better vision too We are almost on 160000km, this was taken before last trip to track day. ![]() So few days ago I went on track Grobnik again to enjoy myself a bit and see how car goes one newer tires.I was only doing two laps per stint, didnt wont any kind of new problems and car worked flawless. Air temperature was low, around 3 degrees with strong wind who got me a bit of trouble on braking but really nice push in my back on start/finish line straight Car had a bit of understeer or I just wonted too much so did few offtrack ![]() I managed to improve my lap time by over 2.5 sec just because of tires. Uf,didnt update for a while...
Rear of the car is now fixed nicely,not perfect but ok.Important is that everything underneath is protected from salt and possibly rust. Brake pads I ment to install where broken as seen in picture below so will need to buy new pair,again ![]() In meanwhile we did another two track days and two competition rounds.I did my first official race last month and last week we did another one, on both I went on podium and brought home two trophys ![]() We drove on this tyres: ![]() ![]() ![]() Very soft legal tires, bought in medium one called R7, there is more option for compounds. Bought Eibach Pro-kit and Ferodo DS2500, both tested on last competition round we joined.
I like both upgrades,springs are very nice,soft as before but car does not need to lean to take a line,now just takes line immediately It sits a bit lower, did measure hight on old springs with full tank and will measure soon on new one Brakes feels more firm, didnt feel any overheating for now but could abused them more ![]() Car has turned 166000km few days ago and clock still not fixed... Car is now sitting on Powerflex bushes
![]() But only at front for now, we didnt had time to install rear beam bushes.Car is a bit firmer to drive but not hard.Good mod! On car ![]() Since last time I posted here we did another two round of Formula Driver championship. Both where on hill climb track just made slower with chicanes. On one I finished 3rd in my class, I made a mistake and didnt visit a track before race day so I was kinda lost as I didnt had whole picture in my head and did mistake in final run Still I was happy to finish and get home in one piece. On last one I had better preparation, visited a track few weeks before to do few runs uphill. Very sliperry track but really fun and fast. On training had best time and on first run I have finished 2nd with just 0.390 from first. Waiting for last run I got everything sorted in my head but sadly I got disqualified for not having catalytic converter ... Think I coulded find few more seconds, so now I will need to wait next year to see how much better can we go. So car now has original manifold and universal sport cat

Looks great! Installed the bm quick shift on mine and was actually pretty impressed as it’s a really simple way of shortening the throw, I would do linkages if you haven't allready when you install it

Yes linkage are on car for at least a year or two Currently I am thinking of engine rebuild, it use a bit of oil but it is a big expense... |
