Well it was 3 years 1 month since I last had a proper ride in her, let's hope she doesn't dissapoint!
What I'm not looking forward to soo much is the extreme pain I'm going to be in with my clapped out sciatic nerve, bucket seat and door bars, not really a winning combo.

And at any rate I guess it's more like going to see a brass than an ex as I've got to hand cash over lol!

well i made it back in one piece!

Cage install took a little longer than expected as it required some extra convincing in the fitting department! But by all accounts seems like a smashing little cage, id go as far as to say i think its made a massive difference in the handling of the car couple with the relatively stiff grp N suspension set up. Everything feels really well balanced and tight!!! i like em' tight

Big thanks to martin for all the graft fitting it, did a smashing job as he always does on the car and even squeezed in the mot and tracking ontop of a very long day, so beer for that man!

drive home was eventfull, got 5 miles down the road in the rain and soon regretted losing the heater control stalks as i was in need of some dash orientated hot air to un steam the windows, but in tru rallye owner style i pulled over a fashion one out of a broken cd ;-)

She got a top up of Vmax and off we went, the weathers not great here but i went for a quick blast down the lanes and after 7 years the smile factors still there!

Il get some pics up on friday of the welding and the cage, got lots of tidying up to do and a few leaks to investigate, so that'l give me something to tinker with over the weekend!

i love my forever and ever baby

EDIT:Forgot i took a couple of exterior pics just before the mot! i think the cage looks pretty good yellow :-)

Looks good, interested in a roll of vinyl for a sunstrip as I assume you've lost the sunvisors?

I think the cage will deffo stay yellow, its abit tatty as its second hand, but to be fair the whole rear interior needs a spray aswell and that wont be done just yet...

looking forward to a good drive out over the weekend!
just about to order some new side/rear decals aswell

Asw woop woop

Well since having her back on the road ive gone for a few blasts and its been good fun with no problems to report at all

This week ive found myself out of the studio in london and on location for a change,As luck would have it not too far from where i live. So with the shoot wrapping early i got my gear loaded and headed home, it then hit me that this would be a perfect opportunity to use some top notch kit to shoot a few pics of the car. After a mammoth downfall i got the water off the car and set off down a local country car park.

The light was really nice so i kept it simple using ambient light and at times one flash head with a cto gel. Il have a proper edit on a few more tomorrow but got these for now.

To sell or not to sell that is the question:

The answer: NOT to sell.

People must be getting bored of me flittering between selling the bloody thing and keeping hold of it, Ive had a long chat with myself and have decided it will be staying indefinitely.

Ive got a few more plans for it and want to carry on tinkering as ive realised during my whole ownership my rebuild period was one i really enjoyed!

loose plans for the coming months.

-Remove cage for powder coating
-Spray Interior
-Install second seat/harness
-Purchase carbon door cards
-Purchase satch shift
-Run brake lines internally
-Powder coat the steels
-Tidy and reduce the loom
-renew decals

-Full extrerior respray, will more than likely happen over the shit end of winter.

-Renewal and upgrade of perishables and aging OM parts

Im currently thinking about what way to swing with my engine plans, my 8v's on 124k now, its now getting any younger so it way well be time to swap it for something newer and beef it up with some toys.

none of the aboves going to happen over night but im going to enjoy the build thats for sure.

Yesterday i made myself some custom camera mounts for inside the car, im going to whack a tripd head on later and try some filming with the 5DmkII, good thing with the magic arms is they can manipulated into any angle and im going to expeirement with some exterior shots aswell, off the bumper, out the window and driver views. should be good fun!

Not as such mate, My last post still stands in terms of 'to do list'.. Im re-sorning it next week so it will be coming off the road for the winter re build, strip down.

In addition to the above im keen to upgrade alot of the perishables, mounts and such.
I also need to consider the fact my 8v is on 125K now, to be fair it still drives like it did when i got it but at some point in the future signs of age will no doubt show, so i need to think about what im going to do in that department. i assume i would go down the route of another 8v lump on a bike body set up or similar...

I think ive just got to plan how i attack it all really, more from a financial perspective. This cant be a money pit over a short period of time. I would rather it took a long time and just trickle fed money into it.

Before i do anything to the car i need to get my garage space re organised.

Im still really looking forward to getting stuck in, learning some new stuff and hopefully having my finished rallye ready for next summer, i did a few track days with my boss whos a massive Vdub fan, his got a tasty mk2 that his keen to road trip to the ring + anglesey next summer so that would be something to look forward to!
