One thing it could be, in regards to the brakes, is the rubber bushes that cover the sliders on the brakes. I have a similar problem with my brakes (266mm lucas ones i think) and i am going to either get a refurbished set or buy the kit and do it myself. The slider rubber bushes on mine have perished and let in moisture to the sliders which can cause them to stick.

Also, i had the same damn problem with the bottom pulley. Mine actually separateed and fell off while driving!!! however it has not affected the timing belt (phew!). I dont know why they made a pulley that wasn't one solid piece - it just doesn't make sense to me.
I had a sticking slider on one of my 283mm Bosch calipers as well. Never worked out why it kept sticking, as it worked nicely for a few hundred miles and then began seizing up again. Not had a problem with other Lucas/Bosch calipers though. Weird.

The standard pulley with rubber bit works as a harmonic damper to help stop bottom end imbalance from shaking your engine to bits. The problem is that this can fall apart over time.

Brakes now seem ok since cleaning and greasing the calipers.

Not much doing with the Rallye since the track day in Dec. Been using it daily and all is ok at the minute!lol

Tempted to SORN it and do some work on it over the summer. ie: Move battery + fuse box, then tidy the engine bay. Need to swap the tyres from my track steelies to my well used steelies as the track ones are still like new!

Still wasn't happy with the rear brakes doing so much work with the bias valve fully in, so have fitted a pressure reduction valve at the master cylinder. Not driven it yet but will post the results! Just hoping to gain some control with the bias valve.

I simply love the way as soon as fix one problem another appears and today was just like that!
Finally happy with the brakes and today the handbrake cable snaps! Also it has become very hard to select gears. Clutch pedal is ok, so I suspect the clutch has failed.

Time for SORN and some TLC!!!

Finally got the box out tonight! Had a few other things going on but this looks like the cause...

IMAG1364 by iewen, on Flickr

3 clutch springs broken, 3 damaged and a crack in the housing. So new clutch required!!!

New clutch now in but broke the rear caliper where the handbrake cable was seized in.
So new calipers, pads, fitting kit and cables bought today!

Did you have any luck with the reduction valve in the end?

Yes! The fronts now lock under hard braking. So I guess the pulling to one side before would be down to the rears almost locking, creating the effect of the handbrake being pulled. Might need some new front discs as they are slightly warped now.

Need to book another track day!!! Was thinking about Bedford again.

Went to Bedford on Sat. Brakes were good apart from there was alot more brake dust on the right wheel compared with the left front. No pulling was evident under braking and car performed well all day.

Gopro video with instructor...

Skip to 13.40 for a Subaru doing a 360 spin!!!

As soon as I heard his voice a few seconds into the vid, I knew it was Mr. John Norrington! Hope you found him useful. I'll watch the rest of the video later. I love Bedford. When I'm allowed to do more than one complete lap...

Yeah, he's a really nice guy who recognised the car from December when I took instruction from him then! 20 well spent!

Right, firstly apologies for not being no here that much lately. Been busy with my German pair!!!

So onto the 106 and its MOT time where last year they mentioned some rust but I didn't do anything with it. So decided to see how bad it was and well I'll let the pic's do the talking...

In the rear wheel arch. I've exposed the good metal but there is alot of rust in there...

I can weld but this is a little beyond my capabilities so might get some quotes from body shop's.

Beaniesport do a great job apparently. Just got a quote from them for mine, seems very reasonable.

They are on Facebook so easy to get in touch.

Booked it into the bodyshop for monday the 14th. They are going to replace the rotten metal and I'll paint it after.

Insurance is due on the 10th and just taxed it for another year. Into my 7th year of owning this car, the longest I've ever owned a car by a long way!

If you google JML Magic Sponge loads will come up. I think you can get them in most supermarkets or similar products. Its just a slightly abrasive white sponge. Just wet and rub gently, easy!

Nice tyres, although your car looks way to shiny to use in winter in that pic!

Had it out at Silverstone National circuit today...

Had to stop after a few laps due to blue smoke from the engine. Which I think is due to the standard cam covers, so might look into getting some jp4 cam covers and oil catch tank.

Was good fun overtaking some powerful machinery though!!!

Have also got a knocking from the LH driveshaft since, so that'll need replacing too!

Replaced both driveshafts now for some uprated versions from Garry. Big thanks to him for the quick delivery on them!

Still not fitted the JP4 cam covers yet as I need a few more bits, like a catch can!!!

Now booked Bedford for 26th July as its one of the few Sat track days this year.

I've parked the car in a friends garage, whilst I sort a few things out at home and work. Probably for a year or so.

So she looks like this for now...

But atleast I haven't had to sell it.
