Not a evo James it's a 96 3.0
I didn't fancy the idea of twin vanos but I'll be able to get it up to 300 I hope

vanos realy isnt as bad as people make out! its a very good system and offers really good torque through out the rev range! you can also get kits to disable it so the engine jsut runs on the peak output settings. with schrick cams and the carbon box they regulaly make 340-50

yeah it will still be an animal. will probably be my next serious car i think. i have had naughty thoughts about pulsars? i know they are very powerful and 4wd but i dont really know about their handling or reliability, or the fact that they all smell of curry ...

Sorry to rain on your fire but my mate had one forever going wrong
It shifted until it went bang a few times I'm not a massive fan of 4wd

James steer with the rear is more fun I even managed to drift the mg lol

Pulsars = shit brakes and I hardly ever see them at trackdays for some reason.

E36 M3s are getting pretty cheap nowadays and would make a fine daily driver as well.

There's also some shockers on PH. For good threads look out for the ones by SniffPetrol and SniffDiesel as they're serial BMWers...

That's because they have a habit of going bang Although I think that's mostly due to people cranking the boost up.

Oh and Neil I can have a word with Matt about a Rotrex charger if you like? Can't be too hard to squeeze one or two into that bay.

Id be tempted not to strip it, and track it in as near standard looking form as possible. This is one of the best drivers cars of all time, and youll severely devalue it by ripping the guts out.

True, and i'd have to agree. But I know which one i'd rather drive on track.

Besides this is Neil here I don't think standard is in his vocabulary!

When's the first trackday then Neil? I'm off to Combe on Monday. A very quiet day and plenty of room on the track to stretch the M3s legs. Oh and take me for a spin as I'd like to get one next year when the weather cheers up again.

Welcome to the M3 club!!! Looks like a nice one. IMO I prefer the 3.0 to the Evo, apart from the Evo has a 6 speed box.

My boss had this as his daily driver and track car...

3.0, SD cage, Recaro's, KW susp. A great car on road and track.

I'm a BMW tech so let me know if you need any help with it.

You've turned into a BMW man! E39 M5s seem to start from 5k upwards from what I've seen when looking around. Don't think they'd be as good as a track-focussed E36 M3 around a circuit. Excellent for wafting about on public roads though!

I don't think wafting is the right word.
Ripping up the Tarmac would be more appropriate!
A 5k one will get you a dog, you need to be spending 10k for a decent one. And no one wants to fit tow bars to them :-)

few pics of the car lowered

and ive fitted my my wiechers raceline strut braces i know the look like cheap polished tat but can assure you there not at only 500 grammes each

I wanted the carbon ones but at 360 each i thought that was a tad expensive
I might powdercoat them at some point as i dont like the polished look

Got lydden hill on sat its supposed to rain tho

Aluminium strut braces? Bit flimsy for the purpose if they are!

Have a look at this guys page. I had my 328 and 16v XSi fettled with by him, and he really knows his beemers! Mention that I recommended him to you

Im 99% sure those are aluminium. Just for that amount of steel, youd expect it to weigh more than a few hundred grammes, and also not to be polished up (a steel one would be painted). Also I had a raceline brace once, and that was aluminium

Stick a magnet on it, if it doesnt stick, its aluminium
