Jizz's car blog!

106 Rallye S2

Intro:
well where to start since buying my rallye nearly a year ago ive spent lots of money and time on it and thought it would be nice to document it here.
all the future jobs i do im planning on taking progress pics for the benefits of other users!...

when i bought the car it was on 85,000 and in a near mint condition.
it now has a few battle wounds but nothing the bodyshop carnt sort out for a few quid!
few pics from the day i picked it up:

few other cool pics!

the car was totally standard and i was happy with it for a while...
until the exhaust broke so i upgraded with a full pugssport de-cat system
ive pretty much uprgraded parts as theyve broke with the exception on the OMP braces of which i have both upper and lower examples,i would highly recomend these upgrades to your rallye, what a handling improvement!

and now the inevitable happened the headgasket goes, so off i go to replace that but whilst the head was off i decided to go for a port and polish & skim, also i got abit greedy and decided to fit a kent fast road cam, put it back together and was over the moon with my new cam!
the brakes wer beggining to show there age so i replaced them with the OMP group N discs with some omp pads to match, was thoroughly impressed with this!
As a said before i pretty much (with the few exceptions) replace and upgrade things when they break! which was the case with my radiator, so this saw a nissens one replace it, these rads are the dogs danglys really helped improve the cooling on the car.(even on the track it doesnt heat over the first bar)
theres also a full set of new engine covers winging its way from 106 parts as we speak, should smarten the bay up abit!

im trying to bring the "blog" up to date so i can continue with things to come over the next few months, so in a nut shell after the rad failed and was replaced the car saw itself treated to a full service ect! i soon after replaced the droplinks with a moog product!
it also has 2 new steals at the front with hopefully some new rear ones to follow shortly!
this is really putting my memory to the test trying to remember all the things ive done to it lol
but as i said this is the beggining to a very long blog that will be extensively updated over the next few months!, that pretty much brings us up to day and thats how the car stands at the moment!

Rallye plans

right ive thought long and hard about this since coming back from FCS and have finally decided what lays in the future for me and my rallye!
basically i come home and thought about what route i should go down, i thought back to all the rallyes i had seen at the weekend and they were all one of two things they were either A)completely motorsport orientated i.e stripped bare interior or they were B) nice mint show worthy examples,no really performance modifications.
this is of course with the exceptions of a few examples that are astetically pleasing and fookin quick!

so ive decided that my rallye should meet both these criteria.I plan to keep loyal to team 8V! !
i want a car that will "eat 16v's" on the track, plus a mint looking road car thats comfortable ect

in order to achieve this,i plan to add, to the modifications allready on the car as follows:

vernier pulley
raceland manifold
series 1 inlet
group N engine mounts
eibach coilovers
quaife LSD
powerflex bushes

these engine mods will be finished off with a days work from mister shofield at chipwizards, and with the intention to possibly super charge left open when funds allow!

inside the shed i plan to strip the back seats ect and re-carpet with another blue s2 carpet
in the rear.
this will be finished off with a white omp roll cage and a mounted spare steel in the middle that will sit at a 45 degree angle.

so thats enough for today, watch this space for an update shortly and remember...............

PLEASE DO NOT POST HERE

right new update here folks spent all day working on it today, completely stripped the interior, ripped out most the old sound deadening and jet washed the lot!
it was hard work, and when the old dear next door got funny with me using the pressure washed to do the carpet i had to quickly bolt a seat in to the naked shell, and whip the carpet up the petrol station to do it there!

i was banking on doing the engine i.e completely cleaning and fitting all the new covers and S1 inlet manifold today but they havent arrived so that'l be next week i hope!

quite impressed with the results, the seats will be coming back out tomorow to be de-stained but ive got some pics so here go's:

Interior clean

this is how it looked when i started, was pretty minging to be honest!

i ripped out all the old sound deadening witch was rough! it touch me ages just cleaning all the crap out, also found a small tiny bit of surface rust (oxidation) in the rear foot pan, was only surface so i kur-rusted that and it all come off!

while all this was going on my so called mates took advantage of the empty rallye seats and "kicked" back to watch, while i sweated me nads off

the results were pleasing, didnt take many pics as the battery went on the cam but you get the idea...

also thought it might be worth mentioning that when i took away the sound proofing, i cut around some bits and left the on the gearbox tunnel bit, so for all of you who wondered if the carpet goes back ok, look foryouself and i think you'l agree it sits ok!

right folks, thats your lot for today...

next update will hopefully be the engine bay sometime next week!

right as planned major assualt on the car today;
fitment of the s1 inlet manifold-still in progress but should be completed this week
fitted my new number plates complete with pugeot logo and 106 rallye register writted across the bottom.

tomorrow i start stripping the rear and carpeting, do some more with the s1 inlet, hopefully fit new throttle cable, dropping my steels down to my mate whos going to professionaly refurb them for free at last.

going to give it a thorough clean and rotate struts...
il update the blogs pics tomorrow when ive got more to show but for now his one of the engine bay how i left it today and my new plates!

till tomorrow!

bit dark but you get the idea

obviously im still working on the engine mechanically so its filthy and messy but this is how i left it today, when ive fitted the s1 inlet properly the engine bay will be properly cleaned

and to finsih todays pics off a picture to remind everyone that it does scrub up nice lol

right we all know what sort of state the cars in at the minute!lol
so on sunday BJR specialists are coming down to rescue me!

i think ive been swayed to take my car to wayne at chipwizards!
so im in the process of saving for that to be done in the next few weeks!
fingers crossed everything will be ready for the rolling road day!

just found another few cool pics from me at rallye day and on the M way!

-daylight pic of my new plates

-me grumpy at 6:30 am

-track shot

so now i make this opportunity to get the majority of work done to the car, re-map,re-furbing,cage ect ect

may the force be with me!

right havent had an update for a while....

had another assault on the engine yesterday, trying to get as much done as poss ready for the re-map on monday!

basically as you may have seen i was running some bodged on cone filter after my s1 inlet conversion, now i hat cone filters as it is and this one was just the tip of the ice burg so i sourced a s1 rallye airbox system and proceeded to try and fit that, only to discover that the dipstick on the s2 engine gets right in the way, so out came the airsaw mwa ha ha ha!

any way cutting a long story short i now have it in there and fitted, it runs so much nicer with that back on, and leaves you to just here the pleasent sound of the inlet!

few cable ties at the minute but it was justa tempory fix yesterday. today ive got some jubilees and brackets to go in various places, also got some extensive cleaning to be done as everythings filfthy lol

more to come over the weekend and next week after the re-map and a visit to 106parts headquarters!

right had another full days work on the car yesterday!

*pics to come*

basically ive stripped the rear completly and angle grinded off my spare wheel cage!
gave it all a wash down!

so next decision is to carpet it properly or just paint it up!
i think really i want to sound deaden and carpet it as its fooking loud with nothing in the back!

anyway my wish list's getting shorter by the weeks!
all i want now is....

- group N engine mounts
- OMP adjustable suspension
- steels refurbed
- me roll cage from marks
- some mud flaps
carnt think of anything else for the moment!

well yesterday after much fucking around and finally getting the janspeed on properly after having to chop the bolt springs down it is now actually on, just need to go over it today re attaching the rest of the exhaust properly and tidying it up abit....

other jobs today is investigating the top engine mount as it seems thats the one that is shagged rather the the g box one which i thought it was...

injuries to list that occured during fitting the manifold so far are, severe left hand burn, black eye, blackman pinchs and some lovely irritaing rash over both hands from the heat wrap

but on the opside it sounds absaloutly lush now!!!! pops bangs and flames like i never imaged it could!
was like the final piece of the puzzle this engine was begging for!

looks abit messy but as i say will be tidying bits up on it toight, so as far as it going back on the road all that needs to be done now are a change of front dics and pads, a new driver side tyre, and then off to the body shop!then shes done! carnt wait!

more pics to come tonight!

right not really done much with the car lately but last week i removed the lower brace which i smashed up at box hill, and yesterday gave it a service and a clean, just heading off for day 2 of the detail today:

yesterday was a megs' shampoo handwash, it was megs's paint cleaned and i tidied the inside up abit, then i had to get on fiddling with the engine to sort a few running probs out!

a few pics, but again nothing major done to it, over the next couple of months they'l be some big brakes going on, along with some RR spec suspension and some top secret engine bits

well havent updated for a while as not to much to report...
but im pleased to say the latest purchase is,,,,

these shall be accompanied by some nice shiny trumparts, and some DTA managment

so should be cool, planning to start the build over xmas, ideal was planning a full sandy spec tb build but im prety happy with going down the bike tb route, should await some interesting results

also over said time my full s1 conversion will be up for grabs at a reasonable price m if your interested, kit will inclide ready to go s1 inlet,s1 airbox with KnN and flly mapped ecu by chipwizards so this really will be the only bolt on s1 inlet you can buy, guarenteed to work first time around, fittted in a day

watch this space guys and girls, my s2 is about to get a whole lot louder lol

its going to be somewhere in the region of 350, thats for the inlet, airbox and the ecu which is allready mapped by wayne to run the inlet perfectly... i saw great gains when i installed my s1 inlet, and wouldnt be letting it go if i wasnt tb'ing

ok il keep you in mind, sharnt be for a couple of months yet... but lets face it, the ecu map alone is gonna cost you a minimun of 400 by anyone decent, this map is done by someone who may be regarded by alot of people as 'extremely good in his trade, possibly one of the best'
so to get the lot for that sort of money is definately imo a good deal

with an exhaust and a kent cam it saw my car make 125 on the rollers, but its very driveable power..if that makes sence, you certainly benefit from it, and the noise is ace to.

let me know if you want them still when they come off matey

well i think il leave my other mini blog for purely engine build stuff then merge them when its done etc.

but for an update for this one, today i had quite a productive day;

i changed the oil and filter
new plugs
new leads
replaced the top hose which split last week

next week my new suspension goes on so that'l be good!
