Diagnosing an noise

Hi, my S2 has developed a noise and we cannot work out what it is, help appreciated!

Noise sounds like a grinding or maybe bearing noise
Only appears once engine is warm and only over 30 mph
Can only be heard when lifting off or when the clutch is dipped (is louder when dipped)
Noise is not in sync with engine or gearbox speed., eg. it is at a consistent speed/rotation

Help!

Spencer

Fuel pump? That's about the only thing I could think of which is constantly running regardless of wheel or engine speed.

Easiest way to tell is take out the seat bench, pull the rubber cover off from above the tank and go for a drive, you'll soon know.

Well it looks like it was the power steering pump making the noise, close call Harv!
