Heater blower problem

My heater blower’s only working on number 3 setting. After some searching & googling it seems the resistor on the side of the motor is the problem. I'm gonna just change the unit but does anyone know if S1 & S2 are the same unit?
Thanks

You're probably right, try the simplest thing first! If I do need a blower, does anyone know if they're the same?

Removing the matric is a nightmare of a job. My heater on my S1 rallye doesn't work at all, warm air comes through the vents when its warm but theres no drive to the motor. I've replaced the fuse (F2 I think) and it hasnt changed.

People say there's a common fault with the connection from the ignition and you can bypass the brown plug, but I think this may only be for S2's/Saxos.

Joy! I've read that there's some kind of resistor on the side that fails. Looks like this could be a steamy winter.
