Rallye vs XSi

Hi
I was always a mini man, but the prices went crazy so went for a Clio Williams which first introduced me to Rallyes.
I really like the simplisity of them, and although i have not driven one i am told thet are ideal for where i now live in north wales.
Only issue is there does not seem to be many about.
However there are a couple of XSi up north like this.

What is the difference between them? would i notice it? Would i always regret not holding out for a rallye?
My dilema is the wife is happy for me to get one, she wont be happy if i spend my life on the internet and viewing sheds!!!
Thanks Mark

The rallye is more raw than that xsi, it has no electric windows, no electric mirrors, no power steering. A shorter ratio box and more importantly a 1.3 8v engine that revs to 7200 rpm. If going for an xsi I'd say buy an original example. Where as it Will be quick with a 16v engine on an xsi box. As far as the difference goes between the two in standard form I can't comment because I havnt driven an xsi. If your wanting an original rallye that's been well looked after I'd say set aside upto 3k.

Ive Got one!

Where abouts in North Wales are you? i bought an original rallye about 6 months ago that needed some love and tbh i havnt really enjoyed it, i guess im too used to creature comforts now so im looking to sell mine. Its FSH, all original except for a Pugsport exhaust, compbrake quickshift and grp n linkages. Interested?

Imo, xsi's aren't that much different, in terms of ratio's, shortest to longest, its 1.3 rallye, 1.4 xsi, then the 1.6 xsi and rallye.

All the rallye and xsi engines rev to 7200, and the xsi's dont have power steering either.

Think of the xsi as a rallye with electric mirrors and windows, that is about it.
