Two more!

I bought two S1 cars last year: N814 LMR was accident damaged and is being restored using some parts from L166 SEW which is just a shell. So the N... car will be back on the road sometime this year but the other is likely to be designated as scrapped unless someone wants the shell and the V5 to re-build a car??

Hi All

I put a Rallye S1 back on the road this year.

I bought it last year, MoTed it and then and it languished in the garage until May this year.

It was bog standard when I got it. A bit tired looking with faded paint on the plastic arches but standing in its original paint. No sign of any bodywork being done. I had to weld a couple of small patches for the MoT

Since then I have turned it into a Rally car. Running the original 1.3 8v 99hp engine and box as that is what is allowed for Enduro Rallying. The car is however safety prepared up to Stage Rally Car spec.

First outing for the car and 9 years since I drove a tarmac stage rally was the Tour of Mull - aka "The Best Rally in The World". 155 stage miles and 150 miles of road section.

Plan is now to use PUGlet for various clubman motorsport: Road rally, Enduro, stage rally, autotest, etc...

Just getting into the finer detail of how to get the best from the car and really enjoying it.

Keep those S1 Rallyes Revving!

Peter

Hi guys, I just found this thread... just to say that in september I bought a cherry red s1 that had been off the road for at least 3 years and needed absolutely loads of work (i.e. I have built most of it myself). It is now back on the road and part-way through being turned into an enduro rally car - I ought to add for all you s1 purists that it was in a pretty needy state when I bought it so I'm not rallying a minter!

I have just got a black S1 rallye in the last couple of weeks. L803 FPJ 113k miles. Completely standard apart from a lower strut brace but really mint for its age. Bringing her back to full health at the moment by getting missing parts back on her.

I have recently put my white S2, R980 MHC back on the road after being on a SORN for five years stuck in various garages. The shell although rust free is slightly tatty (9 previous owners), and has done 47k, the rest of the car is all but replaced, with a nice freshly rebuilt 8v engine.

Did we ever see any update stats on what was left in terms of both series of Rallyes? I know it was discussed at the end of last year...

The last stats we've seen are from Q1 2008 so are now two years out of date:

Series 1 = 695
Red 275
White 252
Black 152
Others 16

Series 2 = 464
Blue 237
White 220
Others 7

Total Rallye's registered in 2008 = 1159

Just based on what's been declared dead via the Graveyard and in this thread on here since March 2008 we have lost:

4 White S2
6 Blue S2

7 White S1
3 Black S1
7 Red S1
1 (N562 DFR - Tom's one not sure on colour?)

I suspect that there are many more. If anyone wants access to it I have created a Google docs spreadsheet with the registrations of the cars noted in the figures above.

Google Docs is Word/Excel/Powerpoint type applications for free available through your web browser: http://docs.google.com/

Lost Rallyes Spreadsheet Link: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...2V2p2dXc&hl=en

I had a look on 106 owners. There is no graevayrd section as far as I can tell, so if anyone wants to post p details of dead Rallyes they know of since March 2008, I will add them to the spreadsheet.

To be honest this was just to get an idea of what was left, what we really need to do is get the data from the DVLA on the registered cars.

I currently own a Red S1 Rallye totally standard being restored.

Reg is R810 HHB

Its a late registration, must of been sitting in a dealership before being registered.
