Unhappy Current list of discontinued rallye parts

peugeot are starting to phase out a lot of specific rallye parts that will never be replaced

used part prices should rocket when parts become obsolete so I wouldnt give stuff away!

It will be similar situation to the Mini Cooper S from the 60's. Soon as the new parts became NLA, people started breaking perfectly good cars just to sell the parts for good money. Soon the actual cars became rare and prices increased, but then not many used parts left!

can see this happening to the rallye's for sure

Here is a list of popular Rallye parts that are now discontinued and therefore obsolete:

S1 Rallye wheel arches
S1 Rallye front wings
S1 Rallye bumper inserts
S1 Rallye decals
S1 Rallye steering wheel badge
S1 Rallye top water hose

And with more bits going off still attached to cars under the scrappage scheme, this is only going to get worse

So far as the body parts go, many of them can be copied to a 'blind man would be pleased to see it' standard, it's just that nobody will bother doing so until they're in really short supply.

No panic yet for my money, but then I have been hoarding engines, gearboxes and all sorts for a while, and am trying to save every part I can off my scrap Rallye!

The question is though..Will the prices of rallye's increase to high's such as the VDub campervan? with all the parts diminishing etc

i very much doubt it.. at the end of the day they are just 106's wth some stickers on and less features then a mid range spec 106,

the camper van is unique in a way.

errr bit more than that mate, and I think you will find there are 1000's more VW campers on the road than 106 Rallyes, so yes of course used Rallye parts will only increase as they become obsolete

maybe for the popular parts but not for the rarer stuff like the arches, wings, bumpers, etc

the low volume sales means it prob wouldnt worth their while putting any money into new moulds

I've just ordered mine for the very same reason. My respray is a little way off but I'd rather have them stored away somewhere than have to find some copies after.

I doubt as well its something you'd be stuck with too, I'm sure you could always sell them on!

Bought a full decal set on 19th december for spares just waiting for them to be delivered. Goin to try and find a sign writing company that can copy them. The copies on ebay are rubbish.

if anyone has a perfect copy then I would like to see it....

I've lost count of the number of times over the years that I've heard people making copies saying they are just like the originals when they are no where near as good.

No disrespect to anyone for trying though...

yes there maybe some news on a special last batch being made for 106parts/106RR by Peugeot France...watch this space

probably stay hidden until someone is daft enough to pay the mad price they want for it.

as for the decals, i think all copies to date have been aimed at undercutting pug on cost rather than producing a faithful replica of the original without price constraints.

the quality of the copies could be a lot better if they cost the same as the originals rather than being half the price or whatever the ebay ones were/are.

yea he ebay car fx ones feel ok, and are great to apply, just the angles are all so wrong, i can't see how with a set of originals infront of some1 an exact replica cant be made i know a VERY good sign maker near to mine all of his work ive seen is awesom, and he made an EXACT copy of a "trustmark" sign we needed doing for our van as we only had 1 (google the sign if your sad enough lol) but i dont have a set for him to copy

Gareth here is a set of replicas

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-106-S1...item45f0216407

I have made some decals for the rallye using adobe illustrator. They are pretty exact but not perfect as they wasnt made to be car printed but i am sure i could make some.

Luckily my dad knows someone who makes, prints and designs car graphics, and signs. Allot of what you see on forecourts. I seen his work its spot on so i am hoping he can replicate me some to the exact size, shape and colour. So i wouldnt worry about that JUST yet

Also same with the 205 rallye wheel arches, if a decent set can be moulded then allot of aftermarket fiberglass or plastic moulds can be sold

I'll be getting my genuine set copied by a local printer on single layer vinyl. Will post pics when they're done to see if anyone wants any doing, but may be a week or two yet.
