an early non pas rack... one that has two inner rod ends rather than a single joint that does both

It's actually a later-type S1 with a slightly larger pinion bearing (35mm rather than 32mm).

What's the easiest way to fit an S1 rack to an S2? Is it to change the steering column etc?

Was the S2 a PAS model?

If not then it should be okay at the bulkhead. The challenge is that the column mounting pattern is different. 2 bolt on the s1 and 3 bolt on the s2.

The bulkhead cutout on the PAS model is quite different.

Yea I was hoping it was a straight swap but its non PAS S1 to PAS S2 and the lengths are different. I looked at changing the steering column over but like Chris says both the column mounting pattern, and the bulkhead fitting are different. Just thought Id ask and see what other people had done, my S1 rack is a Quaife one so needs transferring
