newbie S2 16v conversion
Hey, well just thought I'd introduce myself as I've been reading alot on here recently and seeing as I'm not mechanicaly minded this site helps alot.
Firstly I've purchased the restoration rallye Cris off here did after annoying the he'll out of my mate that bought it from him. It's a bianca white s2 8v at the moment. I intend on purchasing a membership yes ;-). When I first got the rallye I was inspired to keep it 8v and make it a clean as example but after some discussion with other parties I've since then decided to do a 16v conversion. I do intend on putting pictures and a progress thread up at some point At the moment I have just got my J4 engine and I'm going though a shopping list of what else I think I need after research on this site. I got the engine single plug along with manifold loom and unlocked ecu in the purchase I also already have gti calipers on the front. So far I have a list as follows to purchase: Cambelt and tensionor kit Oil filter, oil change Gearbox oil change Enclosed cold air induction Clutch kit Engine mount group n Gear linkages Throttle cable kit I know long post but I thought I'd do my newbie post with a kind of help/checklist along with it for anyone reading to help correct or point me in the right direction. Also if there is anyone up my way interested in doing a conversion for a fee I'd be interested I did have someone that I had in mind to do it but I think is too busy at the moment for it. Below is the link of the restoration that was done to the rallye. http://www.106rallyeforum.com/forum2...ad.php?t=82053 Thanks for reading. Regards Liam |

Hi Liam
looks like the shell has been well restored. There's loads of info on here about doing a 16v conversion, and some very helpful members too. Quite a few owners up our way..........I am sure they will come say hello soon enough. good luck with the conversion |

Yes, a 97 GTI loom should be plug and play. Otherwise you could chop the end of the J2 loom and play the splicing game.
