thing is with new cars and big car specially is they dont have the feel of speed as a 106 will have

side by side with the rallye you would see a big diff but there comfy big cars so will give the feel as if there not going quick

its one of the reasons the 106 is so fun to drive
ya feel EVERYTHING

my mate used to have one... and I thought it was bloody quick. It'd easily out handle and out accelerate a Rallye around here (the peak district). Sound awesome too... he sold it as the insurance and running costs were killing him, not because it wasn't fun.

Don't feed the troll.

Obviously a stupid thread. Of course they're quicker than 106s, FFS.

The comment is based on:

1. 5 of my mates ones blowing up.
2. A 320bhp Scooby STI getting ripped to shreds by a standard E36 BMW M3 with 130k miles on it.
3. Fuel comsumption, high octane fuel has to be used
4.There cheap and nasty
5. Jap Scrap
6. They don't actually handle that well on the road.
7. I personally think the look like a Daewoo thats crashed into halfords.
8. Changing the spark plugs? No room to work on them.

I could go on about them forever.

I'm really not a fan of them!

Oh yeah I drive a 1989 Mini 30 with a stage 5 133bhp linked to a jackknight straight cut box and salisbury lsd. Huge spec!

Time you changed your profile then.

Yes, Scoobs are the Jap equivalent of say, a Ford Escort.
You get your normal ones, warm ones and hot ones.

I'd take a classic Type-R over most cars TBH.

My friends VTS kept up and eventually overtook a Evo 5 on track... Doesnt make the Evo shit though...?

I love the logic some people use to back up their statements!

"Yeah my mates dad had a porsche, i overtook it in my nova... Porsche's are shit and slow"

1-they only blow up when you tamper with them, im yet to encounter one personally which has just decided to blow up for no reason.
2-as jamie sais lots of cars could out-do a subaru in different circumstances...
3-fuel consumption will be high due to the size and pwer outputs of the engine,my opinion is if you want a good fuel economy then dont go for a sports car...
4-id hardly say the build quality of them is poor, again see point 1.
5-it sounds to me like your not a fan of jap cars full stop, personall i see them as being top of there game really, combining electronics in a was such as they do produce results, i believe a certain skyline still holds the ring record.
6-i couldnt complain of how they handle on the road, especially for how one is ment to drive a car on the road.
7-each to there own
8-surely this applies to most jap cars really....

not picking holes in what you claim, its just i think your comments are possibly abit biased as you seem to have a generall dislike to all jap cars from the comments youve made...
if you look after them, they look after you.

you're an idiot. period.

im guessing your mates drove like tits, and the car was irrelevant. they would have killed them anyhow.
320bhp scooby getting ripped by a standard e36 M3. doubt that the impreza had the quoted power. and a standard wrx would happily sit with an E36.
fuel consumption on a 2 litre(or 2.5) turbo engined car isnt too bad compared to lots. and depends on how the car is driven. dont be such a clown.
jap scrap? LMFAO LMFAO idiot.
dont handle well? erm...sure, ok. funny, sti spec C is one of the best handling cars going. as is the 22b, p1, sti v, etc etc, sorry, i mean all.
daewoo into halfords? hahaha. thats funny.
changing spark plugs defines if a car is good or not? right...ok. so are lamborghini murcielago's shit as some engine work we would find easy on a small french hatch requires the entire engine to be removed...didnt think so.

despite being a moron, you have some nice cars.

id say that the early import WRX,s are a performance/everyday car bargin.... 4 doors/big boot/big speed all for around 4k.

what else comes close to that other than a early pulsar/evo

scoobs arnt what i would call slow, but they certinaly aint rocket ships! because of their reputation alot of people expect them to be seriously quick! a jap scoob with leave a rallye standing, but a uk one is a diffrent story! (220bhp, 1300kg's and 4wd tranny loss, do the maths :P) a valver nova should be able to keep up in a straight line (well unless the driver is shite) but when it came to a corner the nova would crash! but then again so could a fiat panda with a big engine ha ha

my mates (and dave P's) corsa valver left them standing!

id love a scoob (type RA if i was being fussy). at the end of the day u get what u pay for, buy a shitter or dont maintain it n it will be unreliable just like any other car on the road

A 320bhp sti will lose to a 320bhp M3, as the sti has far greater transmission losses, hence won't be putting as much power down on the road. However, they are horrible inside, but then so is anything french. As for them blowing up. Eh? Subarus always come top of any reliabilty survey. You mess with them, & they, like anything else, will go pop. Handling wise, again if not messed with, even a basic one will stay with just about anything else on the road. FWIW, I am not a scooby fan. Fantastic car to drive with a paper bag on. Chav image has ruined them IMO.

Here's one for you. The A-series engine is crap, overated & is looked at through rose tinted specs. mini's don't handle. They grip, but they don't handle. Discuss.

i wont mention a certain EVO article which rated the ITR as best fwd car. and the fact ive been in a rallye, its fun, but nothing close to a teg. the closest id say a rallye is to a teg is one with bodies, cage, diff, etc.

too stir things up again !!

i have had a few encounters with subaru's of which i have ususally kept up, the been beaten, but only by a little. and before anyone starts, i went against a modded on, then spoke to the driver who WAS going for it !! the others were standard (from what i could see) WRX spec, and one STI which beat me more than the others. all this on clear open road.
i think if it were to have taken place on some twisties i dont think i would have been able to keep up as much !!!

anyhoooo !!

dont want to get into an arguement but a scooby with a "genuine" 320 bhp would beat an m3.My opinions are based on friends cars rb5 nearly std,v4 sti with mods,e36 m3 with new vanos, evo 8 fq 300 and a pulsar stripped and some basic engine work

The scoobies dont feel as quick as they are but until third gear the rb5 is almost as quick as the evo 8.M3's also lack the feeling of speed but i think thats down to how smooth they are.The pulsar was the quickest and felt it lol

I have gone slightly off topic but a rallye would have no chance against a turbo scoob unless the rallye was a 16v with a lot of work plus u can catch a scoob off guard as there is a fair bit of lag on all the models imo.

side by side with the rallye you would see a big diff but there comfy big cars so will give the feel as if there not going quick

its one of the reasons the 106 is so fun to drive
ya feel EVERYTHING
ditto, i was in my mate BMW 3.1 V6 m-tec and thats fast when he boots it but i still feel faster in my saxo. i know his BMW is fast as the speedo flys up

the only scoobys that are slow are the english specs, my mum has a jap import 280bhp and it leaves my s2 16v standing in every gear simple as!
