Pikes Peak 2013

So who is going to be first up the mountain on June 30th?

Loeb is getting in some practice in, but he's up against some interesting competition including Liam Doran's dad

I reckon Peugeot will probably get the win...

I think Peugeot have a good chance - Loeb is a fantastic multi-discipline driver, the only setback is that the 208 isn't the last word in sophisticated development... The Doran's could be up there if the car holds up. What class is Monster in this year? He's a dab hand, although if he's not unlimited then that rules him out.

Now it's fully paved it's gone on the bucket list of things/places to see and drive. Rent a Corvette and drive up there...

I reckon the 208 has a good chance. Most proffessional team there, with the most sophisticated car (despite the rushed deadline). It's a space fram, so will be durable and unsurprising. The engine is very reliable, as is the suspension. Most of the stuff on it is 908 derived, and built for endurance. A few runs should be fine.

the RS200`s will be off the pace, Rhys Millen could be quick in Hun-die! but for me Loebs name will be on the trophy...

interesting you say that Harv, we were chatting about it last night in the pub and the 3 of us who all rally agreed that now it's fully paved it's fully off the bucket list, i've massively lost interest in it this year due to there being no gravel

I was talking from a tourist point of view - there's no way I'd be able to enjoy threading a 'vette up a gravel track... But in terms of the competition, the change from gravel is a shame.

Yay for Peugeot...

Quote:
Nine-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb of France set the racing world ablaze Sunday when he obliterated the overall race record in the 91st running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. In his first appearance in the "Race to the Clouds," Loeb maneuvered through the 12.42-mile course in 8:13.878, more than a minute-and-a-half faster than the previous race record of 9:46.181 set by Rhys Millen last year.

Flipping awesome car! Driver's not bad either - my eldest son is named after him

In car video:

Loving the flat out 6th gear stuff over blind crests into bends after 6 minutes
