Differences between S1 1.1 XR and Rallye shell
Hi all,
I've come to the conclusion the my S1 Rallye shell is beyond saving, as much as that pains me to admit! I've found a mint 1.1 XR S1 shell which I could use as the basis for the reshelling, but would like to know what the differences are between the two? I'm assuming there's reinforcement around the front end? The only existing threads that I can find seem to be about the S2... Thanks for any help you can give! I'm looking forward to saving one more of these ![]() |

Yeah the bolt in bars which go from the bulkhead to the lower arms - although if it's 4 stud it may already have these bars in already.
I think that's pretty much it. Oh there is the upper engine mount cradle, you might need to unpick that from the Rallye shell and weld it onto the XR shell. For future reference for anyone, the 1.5D (I think any shell that came with an iron engine block) shells are identical to the sports shells Rallye/GTi etc. I just said 1.5D as these seem to be the least abused. haha!
