Dashboard lightening

What's everyone done to lighten their dashboards? I'm planning on stripping the heater out later in the year but would like to see what others have done. Any pics would be great.

Take all the back out.
Heater matrix removal is worth it when dry.
If it's wet you'll regret it!

I separated the complete back from the front, then cut a small piece each side where the fixing points are fixed those back on, then I cut the glovebox off as well, it's pretty light now

Like that idea, as is like to keep as much of it as possible to hide the unsightly cables. I might go heated screen if it causes issues Mike, I'm thinking removing the heater must be worth a few kgs. Any ideas how heavy a heater is?

I chopped 3kg out of the back of my dash and it would still look quite normal.

Heater matrix, ducting and blower motor is 4.52kg

Cheers for the info Cris. That's exactly what I'd like to do.

Check out my progress thread.. I removed my matrix and heater on my road rally car. Fitter a lightweight heater from T7 design and then made an ally plate with hose ends riveted on so that the heater blows straight up into the standard vents. I was going to get a heated screen as well but I don't think it's needed. It's on a simple on/off switch and also has louvre vents I can open that point towards both footwells.
