ha ha i wish, no that was late afternoon around 4.30 or 5.
It pissed rain the whole way down the road then settled a bit till dinner time, then the sun was out from 2.30 on... real mixture of seasons all in the one day...
There was a large turn out, biggest i've ever seen since i started going even with the bad weather.
You'll have your motor all up and running for it next year on our Peugeot Sport stand. Lol...

Well, to be honest i'd be happy enough getting a prize.. Runner up or not.. lol..

But i'm sure if the judges are looking for style, originality (EG: 8v) and taste then i'll not be runner up... :P :P

We should do a stand next year tho, do you think we could hold of the compatition if there was any "Felt Spec" 306's around ???

Thanks guys, i'm really happy with it at the moment, really enjoying driving it.

Before i bought the rims i looked at 100's of pictures of rallye's, some with comp2's and turini's and it was a picture of Dave P's old car that made me decide on them. There a nice rim and i think they suit the S2 really well.

Very small update,

Fitted my new brake disks and pads last weekend. Managed to pick up some Mintex drilled and grooved disk front and rear and Mintex front and rear pads. Also fitted my braided hoses and re-newed the brake fluid.
Not great pictures, i'll get better ones up at the weekend:

Also fitted a 307 rear wiper arm, its a bit smaller than the standard but looks a whole lot nicer as the paint was looking worse for wear on my old one.

Wayne very kindly lent me his Rallye for a couple of days last week seeing as my car is having a longer stay in the garage than i had first thought! So i finally got to drive a Rallye and i have to say i really can see what the fuss is all about. Loved everything about the car. The handling, the torque and just in general the whole experience was fantastic. Was really sorry i had to get back into my 206 after 5 days of great fun in Waynes immaculate Rallye. Some pics of Waynes car with my Rallycar

I prefered the German style writing to the French writing and at the time i couldn't find anywhere to get the plates in German font with a "F" on the side...
Think you can get them now tho.

Yeah i've the front surround on now as well, not sure if i like it tho. I think it looked more cleaner and sleeker on the front without it, plus the curve on the front bumper meant it isn't sitting as nice as i would like too.... I'll leave it on for now tho. or sell it to you for €12

Cheers J_K, i should have sent you a PM, it was a rush for me tho, down on the saturday afternoon, then back up straight after the show finished on the sunday... I'll keep you in mind if i'm down that part of the world again... lol

Small up date, picked up some French number plate surrounds a while back. Thought it would tie in nice with the French style plates.

The Rallye is of to a mates garage for the winter to get the underside, wheel arches and any other bits we can get at all cleaned, treated (if there is any rust) and waxed in order to keep it in good nick.

Other plans are clean the engine bay and have it spot less, its the one area of the car that has never been propperly cleaned and cared for, so its long over due. Next up is to replace the decals, i got a set over the summer and once the car is back in my garage i'll remove the old stickers and apply the new ones. Its only when you hold the new decals up along side the old ones you realize how pink they are and no longer red. lol

When i bought the car it was on its orignal steel wheels, at the time i replaced two badly kerbed ones and i'm tempted to get two more and run with the steel wheels next year instead of the Speedlines, still not sure what to do...

After that a good service, all fluids changed and whatever else all it needs.

Wayne

106 Rallye Winter Project 2010/2011

Over the winter of 2010 we started into a project/job that I have been meaning to do since I bought my Rallye back in 2005, which was clean up the engine bay. The engine bay has always been the one part of the car that has been neglected, the interior and exterior of the car have always been polished and cleaned regularly but the engine bay never seemed to get any attention, manly because its always been covered in dried on dirt and grease and any time I’ve tried to clean it it’s been impossible to get to all the areas that can be seen and most of the time I just gave up and said “I’ll do it some other time”.

So after talking it over with Ged we decided that if we were going to do it, we will do it properly and remove the engine and clean up the entire engine bay. With the engine out it meant we could clean of any surface rust on the chassis legs and other bits that would be impossible to get at.

So the fun started…

First of we removed the front end, lights, bumper, radiator and spam panel. We also dropped out the front struts in order to freshen up the wheel arches while we where at it. Next big job was to remove the engine, luckily the mechanic has a well kitted out garage with an engine hoist, so removing the engine only took an hour or so, then we removed the steering rack, master cylinder and other bits and bobs and finally we could see what work we had ahead of ourselves.

To be honest it was better than we thought. Once we had cleaned down all the years of grease and dirt there was very little surface rust on the car, which isn’t bad saying the car is 13 years old and French… lol
We sanded down any rusty patches back to the bare metal, and then treated them with “Zinc 182” paint/primer. We also painted the entire lower portion of the engine bay and wheel arches, so we wouldn’t have to worry about it again.

Three coats of white primer where added to the engine bay and then two coats of Bianca White for a final coat was added to leave it looking like new, ready for the engine to be refitted.

With the engine and gearbox out and on the hoist we took into cleaning all the chalky white marks/stains of them and give them a coat of black heat resistant paint. The manifold also got a quick polish when it was off. The steering rack and master cylinder got some black paint also.
