a local 'out in the sticks' work shop, they spend there days renovating big money vintage cars, so there work seems promising...

Ive been quoted a multi panel discount of 160 or if its an individual panel 200.

Im unsure as to wether or not having a go at the interior myself is a bad idea? i think for the effort its probally worth getting them to spray around in there.

cage im going to get powder coated, im thinking of going indigo blue or should i be abit more indivual and try a red or a yellow?

helppp

You won't like the price dude! I wouldn't bother painting the inside yourself. You'll need loads of cans and umber getting it done properly wont cost much more. I really want to get the inside of mine painted but funds won't allow at the moment.

OMP WRC, lovely and comfy:

My new one is an OMP HTE, I only changed because I wanted lateral protection for my head.

They did touch, but not to the extent that damage was caused. When I removed the seat you couldn't tell that the door bar had run across it.
Not tried the new on, but it should be the same.

Money well spent as far as I'm concerned. I could spend all day in mine and not get numb. Mind you, I could only buy one at the time

slow progress today, new bumpers on

other than that i spent most of the day faffing with the drivers side lock, its not looking good, i really carnt suss out why it wont enganged, after a long time fiddling i got it to open and stripped it down but reasembled it and the door pin still wont move, going to have another crack at that tomorow.

Im waiting for lots of parts to rock up which is slowing me down but we'l see what tomorow brings.

New front wing can go on as soon as it arrives, I spent alot of time stripping fluff off of the floor today abd generally trying to make a start on prepping the interior, Ive got lots of cables i dont require any more so need to set about removing those.

Use a ratchet strap to pull the legs in closer. Remove the steering wheel, I also took the door seals off for an extra few mm of room.

will the legs flex that much then?
il be honest i gave up with it today, resorted to getting the door lock fixed and giving the car a really good valet, im stunned at how nice the body work still is, I had some pretty big build ups of green much under the window seals and loads on contamination sitting ontop of the paint. So lots of elbow grease and 5 of these later:

It looked like this:

The innards are still a right mess but im getting there:

unsure how the next couple of weeks will pan out, my new 'new' front wing should be here in a couple of days, so i can get that lashed on, then sunday night it goes back to the body shop for the rear end, from there its going to my mates workshop for cage fitting, seats fitted (if i buy them in time) and then finally off to the painters!
Whilst all thats going down i will have hopefully won the rallye spoiler im chasing on ebay and also have found a s2 dash that i can get sent off for flocking.
When ALL the body works done i will be fitting the flocked dash, changing heater matrix and then hopefully Mot'ing and tax'ing.

Im starting to make a plan of things i want to do once its back on the road, initial thoughts are book a weekend off to lift the engine out, paint the block and bay.
Also i think after its been sat there for so long it wouldnt hurt to replace all perishables.
I also want to research abit more about changing to braided fuel lines.

I think in summary il be happy when it gets to the point of being painted and cage fitted etc

I was experimenting, one of them (imo the best) was made of some thinly slice cumberland sausage, red onion, cheese and tomatoe chutney- that one was 'da bomb'

Otherwise were plain cheese, cheese and ham

The beauty of it was i found that in the garage during the tidy up, it was boxed up and had apparently been there since the 80's, out comes the steam cleaner and some cilit bang, 15 mins later shes ready to cook up a treat!

Is it not worth fitting the flocked dash before doing the final fitting of the cage? As the Sparco cage front legs go in front of the dash, so you'll have to take out at least the front part of the cage before being able to remove the dash. Unless you are cutting the dash up to buggery of course.

Put the cage together on the drive and check. It might not be a dash-dodger after all! Could save you wrecking new paint on your cage or new flock on your dash in either case.

well i got home from work last night to find my new indigo blue front wing and arch, thats going to go on sunday morning.
Then sunday evening shes off to the body shop for the rest of the work to be finished, final destination being the painters next weekend and then il just be left with the inside to sort out.

Got my seat and harness just about to go on order and a dash just about to be flocked so progress is coming on nicely.

getting seriously exctied now!

It feels weird not seeing it on the drive, managed to get the new wing on today, bar steward fiddly job that was!

I've paint pen'd all the problem area's i want looking at and all being well she be be taking her first lot of paint staurday.

I reckon from now im looking at about 3 weeks till she's back on the drive way.
As soon as the paints done shes going to my mates workshop for the cage fitting and flocked dash/heater matrix.
By that time my seat and harness should have arrived so they can go in too.
It'l then be off somewhere else for the interior to be painted.
When i get it back here im going to get the head gasket and belts changed, steam out the bay and touch up some problem areas and then start really tackling lots of other jobs.

Full bush replacement all around
Braided fuel hoses
266 brake conversion
new decals
streamline carbon panels on
compbrake quickshift on
new steering wheel and boss
im wanting to treat and paint the underside

and ermm MOT it , should be fine hopefully

Somethign else worth mentioning is on friday i got a quote with all modifications listed..
My previous quote a couple of years ago on the car as standard was about 1200 tpft, a couple of years down the line, no points and all mods declared 700

couple of pics from today.

old wing off-horrible fiddly job on a driveway

new wing on-small dent to pop out

much better compared to the old one that was beyond repair

Its getting really bad now, its becoming an obsession again.
Seriously i wake up at 4am for work, pick up my phone and load up the Rr, i think about my car on the way to work, then sit there buying stuff for it all day at work.
I get home, come on the Rr (sometimes literally) and just think about all the naughty things i will do to my car!
And you know what i can promise you when its back on the road il love it again for a week and then start moaning because its loud and rattles

haha, who wants to see an update pic?

it'l be like wheres wally but ' wheres the filler?
