My Black S1 Rallye

My first peugeot, the 106 rallye,
Picked it up in Dublin in April with just 83,000 on the clock..........
This is how she looked at the time, needed a bit of tidying up.

I've since done a little bit of work on it and she now looks like this!!!!

My plans are mainly to get the steelies during the summer at some stage.
Origional side decals.
Remove the god awful filler cap.
Possible have it raised back to standard height.

Well, an update. I got some steelies, removed the gastly filler cap and sprayed my bumper strips red again.
Big thanks to Wak on here for the wheels too.

The difference they make is unreal, it just looks so much better now. I love it.

Well,

Another update on the rallye but first thanks to everybody for the previous positive comments. It is now back to standard ride height (Thanks to Mankee for the springs).
Also since I last posted the head gasket went so thats been changed too.
Personally I think it looks much better being a bit higher up, and the handling is better for Irish roads too

All I need to do now is get some stripes for the side and the steelie centre caps. Unfortunatly I'm a poor student so I'll have to wait till christmas but overall I'm pretty happy with it the way it is.

I bought this car brand new!!!
I have been trying to find where it had gone for years, and Im amazed to see it in Ireland!!
I know it was mine as I fitted the 205 rear "rallye" sticker, front spots, black bumper inserts, calibra front spliters, "nice"petrol cap, zender side skirts and the Peugeot rear spoiler.
When I sold it the side and grille stripes were still on it and it had a Sebring exhaust and 306 GTi-6 15 inch alloys.
It was 3 years old and had done 13k miles only and is the only car I regret selling!!

Yeah, still go up to John's regularly to raid his knackered cars for random bolts and bits and bobs for my cars!

Class

Its still going strong anyway
Those alloys and exhaust were lost somewhere along the way so.

You must have sold it to some girl, there's tonne's of service history with it all in her name until it found its way over here.

Wasn't done by clicks, used a piece of timber in place of the damper and reset the torsion bar, just kept trying until it looked about right, once you get the bar out once its no problem to re-adjust it again.

Guess what I recieved in the post the other day.

May 1996

Not bad eh :'D Should ad an extra €500 on to the price of the car

So, Time for an update on whats happening my rallye...

I'd been trying to sell it on/off for a good while now but I just can't bring myself to do it.
My feeling at the moment is that the gearbox needs to be reconditioned so to speak, along with two new driveshafts and a new clutch so as soon as the tax runs out in July its coming off the road.

Then the fun begins, on Friday the 15th of August she'll make her debut on the track at mondello park Plan is to strip it, upgrade the brakes, decent clutch, slicks/semi-slicks and abuse it around the track for an afternoon. Any advice/input on this would be much appriciated.

On a side note a suitable replacment has been found as my everyday car. A Fiat Coupe 16v Turbo

oooo cant wait to see this around mondello man, should be interesting

and good to see you aren't selling up after all

what sort of brake upgrade have you in mind?? there were hi-spec 4 pots on my old vts and they would put you through the window, amazing upgrade, but i couldnt justify that sort of money when you're only trying to stop an 800kg car lol. The GTI-6 seem to be the best value for money. I just got a set the other week, 200 euro for the 2 front calipers and 23mm master cylinder, should make a nice difference with braided lines and mintex 1144 pads

I still think the 266mm brake upgrade is best - esp if your looking to keep the Steelies

I've got a 266 setup with a 23mm M/c, the brakes are superb and would recommend to anyone!

I hadn't looked into it yet to be honest, definately keeping the steelies, this is going to be done relativly cheaply. GTI-6 sounds good but they hardly go on under the steelies do they? Or do they

I've only drums at the back and I'm not gona convert them at this stage (although that might be something to think about) so I don't want too much stopping power at the front and none at the back. It'll be my first trackday too so I though braided hoses and a set of very good pads would do me, although good brakes make all the difference.

266 take a small amount of grinding to fit under the steels... no way you'll get the GTI-6 (285) brakes in there!!!

yeah 266mm are your best bet if ya wanna keep the steelies. AidanB has a set for sale on frenchcarsireland, here's a link that might help ya

http://www.106owners.co.uk/forums/sh...48&postcount=3

probably best not to get ones off any form of GTI as the price will inevitably be higher, just because they're from a gti haha, even tho you can get the same setup off a 1.4 307

I was quoted 25 sterling a caliper for ones off a 307 hdi from traynors if that gives ya any idea

another thing i notice a lot of rallye drivers doing, is upgrading the brake master cylinder to the one off a non-ABS model 406, as they are a direct swap, and you will notice a huge difference going from the standard 22mm to the whopper 28mm one aswel

I spotted them alright No cash at the moment though so it'll be a month before I start doing anything about it. There's a guy near me at home that only breaks Citroens so I'll definately be able to find a set there anyway. After a small bit of reading the 406 master cylinder seem to be the way to go alright.
