OEM Head Gasket no longer available

Hey all,

Have had a quick search to see if this has been asked before, but couldn't find anything.

Spoke to the local Peugeot dealership who have told me that they no longer supply head gaskets, and that I'll need to find an after market alternative.

I've seen one from Ajusa, but it is fibre rather than MLS. I presume that the engines were originally fitted with MLS, and in the workshop manual it states that metal gaskets must be replaced with metal - so I guess a fibre gasket would not be suitable?

I'm finding it difficult to source a MLS gasket - any recommendations?

ahh thats understandable, not that common an engine and a long time out of production.

that engine is an alloy block and never used a steel gasket, I would use a payen or elring gasket for it.

thanks welsh - I've had a quick look and neither payen or elring make a gasket for it (they do pretty much everything else though). I've emailed Peugeot to see which material they specify. Fingers crossed that fibre is okay - that's all I can find!

Ok so Peugeot Sport don't supply the gaskets anymore, but recommended BPS Racing and Oreca (neither of which seem to stock it either).

So at this point, the only one I can find is this: AJUSA FIBREMAX

Does anyone know what material the OEM gaskets are made of?

Will a 1.4 gasket not do? Since they are the same bore size after all.

1.4 gasket for alloy block will do the job and you can find gasket from top manufactures like Elring ,victor rainz ect.. and the cost will be around 20 quid
