Low exhaust

Hi everyone !

After Bit of advice really. My exhaust hangs low, can this be caused by different lengths in stainless manifolds ?
Cars standard height and I struggle with speed bumps
Was goin to treat the gti to a pug sport but worried this will hang just as low.

Any help would be great !

Thanks

Many questions because you haven't given enough info to answer properly.

What manifold are you using?

Where is it catching?

Any pics?

My S2 did this when I had the magnex system fitted, but it was lowered so I lived with it for a bit and then bought a pugsport with a motorsport cat. I had no problem after that.

Not sure what manifold that is. Looks after market. If it is bolted on to the engine under the car the position is probably not far off factory. If not then it's possible it's dropped a bit as it is in part supporting the weight of the rest of the manifold back system.

Might be worth a trip to a local exhaust fitters to get it up on the ramps for a better look and a second opinion.

Cheers cris, yea it's after market stainless manifold just bolted into the engine. the whole exhaust is a bodged together effort by myself to be fair but has got a pugsport back box with an awfull square tip. However still sounds great with the pops !
Been to the local ets and they say it's fitted perfectly but this is my 9th 106 and I no that the do sit more flush into the chassis.

My worry is I'll get the pugsport and it will still be dragging over bumps in the local car park !

Ride height looks fairly standard to me.

Not all the available 106 catalytic converters and centre boxes are the same so a different combo of those might sit differently.

Does that manifold have the mounting bracket I referred to that mounts it under the car like this Raceland one?

Think mine was lower than yours

Yea it's standard height, I've replaced everything for new the last few months even the rear axle, the last thing to replace is the exhaust !
I'm unsure about the bracket, I'll have a look tomora !

Very nice the rallye !
Definitely lower but the exhaust is higher haha.
Back in the day I had a diablo red litrially sat on the tyres but the exhaust never touched a thing .
That was a full magnex set up with the dual pipe.

Yeah check for that bracket. The raceland one I had one the car above had it chopped off.

Those magnex units made a nice noise but were twice the weight of a full pugsport system. Probably the reason for the different note!

Your GTI looks nice. The photos aren't showing on the forum because you have them all set to private.

Cheers !
It's getting there now, can start buying fun stuff soon !
The magnex were almost silent on tick over if I remember correct but sounded great in high Revs !
Dint have the raaaaasp of the pug sport tho !

This was when I first checked underneath the car... the beam wishbones and brake lines were 19 years old ! Had never been changed !
You might be able to work out the hashed pug sport, it sounds better than it looks !

Look like the back box section has been welded to the centre section?

Did you get any more pics from under the car and off the exhaust particularly where the centre section and car are mounted.
