Peugeot 106 1.4 XSi engine

My peugeot 106 1.4 XSi engine has had a problem since last year, 3 times to same garage and every time same problem.

So what happens then well this is a not always problem as in sometimes it will happen other times it works fine, The engine doesnt seem to hold idle i can start engine but it dies out straight away. If i but my foot on throttle it will stay running but the rpm doesn't stay stable so say i habe my foot at 3000rpm it will go down maybe 2000-2500rpm and back up to 3000rpm

Any ideas would deffinetly be helpful thanks

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak to me. I would check that first.

If that is okay, check the injectors are good. then the throttle position sensor.

It could be a bad connection as well on any sensor, these can be very hard to find.

As above, cracked breather pipes are a favourite, as they are part of the inlet system.

Changed the throttle body from the original 1.3 rallye engine i had in garage. Cant use the 1.3 in car because it has a oil leak somewhere and we cant get it tested on island so its going to either be sent out at somepoint to somewhere on mainland or just be used as a parts engine for the 1.4 engine

Also a pressure sensor pipe turned out to have a crack in it, for now a little electrical tape sorted that out because it was idling at 2.200rpm now its back down to 1.500rpm
Ps. the previous owner of engine has changed camshaft so it idles high anyway
