Wow......just wow. Looks sublime beanie! Amazing work. Where did you get the dash control buttons and how much, they looks sweet as.

Also, not sure whether you can help but I am currently trying to buy a house but cannot stretch to one with a garage.. your facility there, would it be possible to store the Rallye so I can work on it too? I'd obviously pay for it. And finally, do you need security there, as in CCTV and alarm etc, as I work for a specialist security firm so could assist if required.

Car is the tits dude! Keep those updates coming! Who built the engine and what's the spec? Also what ECU you running etc?

Hello there
Back again, thought I'd try to keep on top of the thread to keep you lot posted on what we've been upto.
We had a bit of a leak from one of the struts so I decided to send them off to Leda for a bit of a service.
They came back having had most of their insides replaced, and some fancy stickers on the outside

With the struts back we lost interest in waiting for the group buy and got ourselves some solid top mounts

I managed to get myself a few other bits and bobs consisting of some uprated driveshafts, a Schroth harness, a steering wheel and snap-off steering wheel boss

Horrible job fitting the 6 point harnesses, trying to get the crotch strap in under the seat and adjusted wasn't nice

Next up, we did have to pull the gearbox back out again as my gearbox as missing one of the ball joints on the selectors needed for the Satchshift.
As we were about to take it out, we had a phone call from someone fairly local asking if we would be interested if we were interested in a Gripper plate LSD, close ratio, straight cut, dog box, anyway...

So we pulled my gearbox out, swapped it for my new close ratio, straight cut, dog box, fitted the struts, the uprated driveshafts

Looking lots and lots like a car now!
Need to try to keep the momentum of the current progress, though its costing me an amazing amount of money

Cheers for looking

We have another update! In this one we haven't done a great deal, apart fromsell everything we own to afford it lol
Just got the car back from Edwards Motorsport where it has had a full custom exhaust system made.
Not much to write really as we haven't really done anything, but here are some pictures

Awesome work. I'd love to know what that exhaust and manifold cost. I'm sure it'd be worth every penny.

Wow that looks amazing guys, well done.

Did you build the engine yourself?

Love the back box too, excellent!

Great work there. I like how the manifold is designed so the exhaust gas coming from each cylinder has an equal distance to travel - unlike some cheap manifolds. I'm not sure of the science behind it (or if it really makes that much difference - maybe someone can shed some light) but it certainly does my OCD some good.

Think it's safe to say Edwards Motorsport exhausts systems are as good as Simpsons. Very nice work, and that gearbox was a good find mate.

Gutted for you pal.

Hope it goes to someone willing to finish it to your high standard. Totally understand where you are with it though, endless time, money, working to pay for it, all gets too much.

The advert is red hot on Facebook. Nearly every 'racing' group that I am in has got a link to it.
I don't think it will go for a 'steal', it'll fetch decent money.

Its been a very long time since if posted on here.
Been doing LOTS of falling out of love with the car, then occasions of hating it less.
But I thought it was about time I updated as a lot has changed since the last time I posted on this thread.

Everything is now plumbed in and working
I have to admit the PDM has done a lovely job of making the interior nice and simple
Everything is now in and working as it should which is a bit of a weight off.
Still got a couple of things to finish off before I put the steering wheel on etc but you get the idea

Video of the car working (in its earlier stages)

Heated windscreen wiring, there is one of these either side, the earth is now on, I just haven't taken a picture since

Stack dash, dry state battery kill, fire extinguisher button, PDM keypad, PDM diagnosis/programming port and Omex communication port. Some slight scratches on the dash caused from taking it in and out, so might need a lick of paint soon

Engine now completely plumbed in and working

Video of the engine running!!!! Needs a throttle cable then it'll be off for mapping

Couple of just general arty kind of photos

Fuel box in boot now completely wired in and functioning with swirl pot, Bosch fuel pump, adjustable pressure regulator and fuel pressure sensor for stack along with a lid

Wiring all complete with DR25 heat shrink

The interior of the car complete, gives you an idea of how sparse it is in there.
Really happy with how neat it is

So getting really close now, very short snagging list to complete then off to mapping.
Very tempted to sell it when its done (wish I had when it was previously for sale but you know how these things go) but the Mrs won't let me sell it till I've used it, so we'll so how that goes

I saw that Lewis! I know exactly how you're feeling. These builds are ever so tough!
A couple of people on my Facebook seem to talk about selling as often as I do.
My car is now mapped with a hp reading and a weight, but unfortunately less than a mile down the road, 4th gear lost all its teeth damaging the crownwheel and pinion.
This made me really want to get shot of the car!
Luckily we later found out the crownwheel and pinion was a hugely long final drive ratio, so I've got a new casing, had the other gears non destructively tested and I'm currently waiting for my new crownwheel and pinion to arrive.
I've taken some time out from the build, buying 3 motorbikes, and I'm now feeling a little more inspired to keep going.

Bloody hell thats annoying. Was the gearbox rebuilt when you'd bought it?

What power did she make, you planning to keep it or what? I have to say I'm really regretting letting mine go now but I know how it is with these builds as do you!! Looks beautiful though mate. I'd like to come see it at some point if that'd be ok?

Yeah the gearbox thing was very annoying, took 6 months to get sorted, but it's now back and working at the moment.
It pulled 211.4hp on the Atspeed rolling road, and they weighed it at 759kg so quite happy with all that.
I'd happily show you around it, we're at donnington park this weekend at the fcs Expo if you want to pop by for a look around and a chat?
Bloody thing wouldn't start this morning, turned out the crank sensor was faulty, looks like the flywheel may have just touched it, !but nicked a sensor off a Saxo we had laying around so she's running again now.
Hopefully get some decent pictures of it this weekend

Thanks for the comments guys
The car did finally get out and about last weekend (even if it was by trailer)
We took the car to PFC magazine expo
Saturday morning we went to load the car onto a borrowed trailer and the sodding thing wouldn't start, which was a huge shock as it's always started on the button and run beautifully!?!
After a quick diagnosis we traced the non start to no spark or injection and tracked the fault to the crank sensor, which looks like the flywheel may have just touched at some point, so a washer may be needed there.
So we stole a crank sensor off my brothers Vts and it started once again on the button

Loaded the car onto the trailer and headed towards Donnington

The journey went well, being our first time towing a trailer with a car on it, the only thing we noted was that if I decide to keep the Rallye I'll need a slightly better car than current 1.8 petrol Vectra.

Unloaded the car and it sat there really, got a few nice picture taken of it throughout the day. Got asked if I could run my car outside for a photo shoot for a prospective future magazine feature. So got it outside, had a photo shoot, in the pissing rain!! Then when I went to run the car back in, 8it instantly steamed up, and the heated windscreen proved itself to not only actually function (as these things car be hard to thoroughly test) it's also invaluable without a heater!
Very happy, everything seems to work reliably as it should. Just need to get some miles under its belt ready for some track days and maybe a sprint/hillclimb next year!

Sorry did think this was more of an interesting update but as I've written it I've realised the car hasn't really done anything. It is now motd too, just needs taxing
