2014 anniversarallye

Just a heads up that I am planning a road rally and auto test to celebrate 20 years of the S1 Rallye.

Majority of S1's are 1994 models, so makes sense to do it in 2014 rather than from the launch date of Oct 1993.

Hoping for as many Rallyes as possible, S1 and S2 welcome.

More details to follow shortly...

Hurry up and pick a date 'cos I've got to book my 2014 leave next week, even more of an issue because I work most weekends! Also give me a reason to get my S1 back on the road

I'm not sure exactly when we should do it, but I am open to suggestions.

Roads will be quieter in winter of course, but not good weather.

It will probably be northern based because that is where I am, so easier to organise, but a convoy coming from the south could be a great thing to organise.

If I make it competitive then I need to get MSA approval, insurance, licenses, etc so it may be non timed and just a big road run on this amazing roads.

However a route with questions and clues could be good, keep the passenger awake!

Pending knowing the date, I would like to join this event.
Late summer.
Convoy/tour.
Autotest.
BBQ.
Beer.
Tyre kicking.
Tech chat.
Maybe even a dab of polish on our 20yo paintwork so the cars look nice.

Northish is good for nice roads. Peaks, N Yorks Moors, etc.

Rally Rallye!

this is still on but thought we might have had more interest! I need to find out what most people would prefer then get some dates together

I am thinking a road run would be the best bet?

I could book a hotel in wales, lay on some food before the start, then plot a big route and meet back at hotel afterwards??

any other ideas?

Hi Mark,

That sounds like a great idea to me and I'm more than happy to throw my hat in the ring to help organise it. I regularly go driving up n.wales and I have some great routes we use. It would be best to avoid the peak summer period though as it gets a bit to busy then for any enthusiastic driving...

So come one then guys, let's get some interest going for this!

Count me in also. If turnout is down (which unfortunately looks to be the case looking at threads from recent years) could we join up with another club. I will also do my bit to help if needed. Although always interesting machinery up Evo Triangle way anyway. Which reminds me, I should prob sign up as a member lol Banned from paypal and no cheque book doesn't help

Here is the Anglsey Circuit events page if this has any bearing on things:

I would be up for it if there is a firm date set. It would be good to see a bunch of Rallyes try and photobomb an Evo shoot! Not too sure about a hotel though I'm not made of money!

Fingers crossed I'll have my rallye this week, although I have a broken leg so won't be driving it for a bit! I will sign up and whilst new to the forum, I would be interested in being involved in this. There is also a member on here who lives in my village and he has a red S1, so I'll see if he's up for coming down.

For info. you can book the Curborough Sprint Course ('non competitive' max of 15 cars on the track for the day) for 580. That's 38.50 for each car if you can get the 15.

Fairly central location and whilst short, it is a fun circuit, the Group B rally cars have an annual meet there...

That's a great idea Dave! I'm a regular at Curby and it's brilliant fun and relatively safe/easy on the car. Plus it's smack bang in the middle of the UK...
