Mart Pug's 205 GTI 1.9

Soon to be picking up my first 205 1.9, which will be built up to a track car.

Here's a few snaps from last year, when it was with my Dad, who made nice start:

Then a bit of a clean last Summer:

Plan is to get it over to my place soon and start to finish a few bits off, and get a nice early Spring track day booked (maybe my new shiny local, Donington!)

So the immediate jobs are:

Get cage fitted
Find some OE size Yoko A048 (pref part worn)
Paint up all the trim and fix to the car
Replace 1.6 drum brake beam with 1.9 disc beam (it's got to be right )
Plus the usual oil, brake fluid etc

Nice looking motor.... I love 205's if I was you I'd stick with the drums on the back, just as good as discs if theyre set up correctly!!

Thanks mate!
The rear beam is seized so it will need looking at, nd one of the wheel bolt holes is buggered so i thought i may as well convert to discs. Having never had a 205 i want it to be a proper 1.9. I know I'm not going to fell much difference, just one of my foibles!

Been in the garage restoring the trim and bumpers with "plasticare" recently. It's kind of like back to black but longer lasting and not as glossy.

Before:

After:

Then it was off to Nick at Shenpar, for:

- swap seized 1.6 beam for proper 1.9 beam that the car should have had (slightly wider track and disc brakes)
- cambelt and tensioners
- compression test just in case
- general poke around to ensure everything is as it should be

After that, we're off to see Rob at Constella to get a sump baffle and cage plates welded in

Mart
