Nothing. Raced all last season as we are and will continue to do so until someone says I can't. This all comes down to interpretation and mine is that the engine and box are originally fitted to a 106 by Peugeot.

There's always New Millenium

I dont think your interpretation of the rules will agree with theirs sadly. It looks like this has been written specifically to deal with people running items from other marques of car. I personally wouldn't risk it, but maybe that's just me.

You've still got time to sort something out

My interpretation of the rules has been verified by the series co-ordinator. Why does this subject generate so much interest year after year? I've done 2 seasons with Tin Tops in a 106 of this spec and never had an issue. If I had an issue I would have moved to another series or championship.

Now back to the build, which is the main reason for this thread:

Placed another order with Mr Satchell today which should be with me next week hopefully. With all the welding and fab done on the shell, I can now start building it up with the parts we saved from the last car. It might even be a rolling shell by next month.

Have you got any pics of the Satchell chassis strengthening plates now welded up? I'm putting mine in at some point this week and would be good to see how you've done it

Which bit in particular? There are a few of the front end on page 2 and 1 of the floor plates too.
Have a few more if you have something in mind.

Sorry, I meant the footwell ones where the wishbone rears mount. Do you have any completed pics after welding?

CSCC aren't helping themselves because when I spoke to them I was told the BE box in a 106 would not meet their regulations, how they are going to Police it I dont know. Im only trying to help that's all, you dont have to listen, that's entirely up to you.

If you are looking to run a Cup box in your 106 then you shouldn't have any problems. This is what I checked with the series co ordinator before I bought the box. If you ask the club if running a BE box is ok you will get a different answer as many have said. It's not that I'm not listening, it's that I have asked the above question of the co ordinator and was told yes, it's ok. If he had said no, I wouldn't have bought the box.

All this said, Lee Willams has raced his Saxo with Tin Tops and won a race outright without any issue and he runs a BE box (not cup) as pointed out to me by Mike.

Will they police it? Will see if anything is said this season. Be hard if I've competed like this for 2 seasons I think.

To me it seems pointless to have the rule in place if they are not going to check if people comply. They might as well make gearboxes free but excluding sequential. Every other series I have raced in has had a scrutineer who would check things like weight, ride height, camber etc. I know there is no need to check those in TinTops but in my opinion a simple engine and gearbox check should be carried out.

No problem

Started the dry build this weekend and got the seating position sorted with John.

It's starting to look like a 106 again.

Also got the new dash cut out and screwed temporarily into place. Once the seat bars are welded and the seat bolted in, we'll mock up where all the switches and gauges go and then make the loom fit that.

Engine and box back in with the new bodies fitted to see if we now have clearance for the air filter etc.

We do indeed have some clearance.

We then encountered a slight problem with strut brace clearance as before, but having spoken to Colin previously, we had a plan B ready to go. Strut brace brackets have been extended by 20mm and moved forward on the strut top by the thickness of the strut brace.

Giving us clearance of the air filter.

A few other jobs have been done too:

Battery tray made and welded in.

New battery cage in place.

John has sourced a new stud and nut kit for the front which does the job and looks quite bling!

Had word today that the fuel tank and swirl pot are almost ready. Should have them early next week which means the fuel system can be plumbed in too. New brake lines have arrived, as has the diesel header tank which I am starting to plumb in.

Just waiting on a few suppliers now before I can do much more.

What's the advantage of copper nuts(!!) over aluminium?
I'm about to order some spares and have the option for them.

Mike, copper wheel nuts pinch better due to the material being softer.
