after much debating i am considering putting the dash back in just to keep it a bit tidy, just been thinking that making the wiring loom tidy is going to be a balls ache ! but im still undecided ! what do you think ? Dash in or out ?

ok yesterday had a busy day, fitted my new brakes from a 306 xsi and they are much better and bigger

Before, with standard VTS Calipers and disks

After with 306 XSI calipers and disks

but i made a cock up, i checked to see if the pistons were nice and free but forgot to check the sliders and one of them was seized ! Damn it i gotta take em all off again, to free it up ! i also fitted a bigger master cylinder while i was at it too !
Also i managed to to get my electronic speedo working at long last !
Tidyied up a bit of wiring in the engine bay and sorted out a kink in one of the hoses that go into the heater matrix so she doesnt overheat !
Quite a productive day all in all

had a little play with photoshop today, basically me and two other mates have done a fair few engine conversions now so we decided to give ourselves a name, and we come up with White And Nerdy Motorsport, dont ask why ! lol

Anyways i thought as my 106 is a track car why not sticker it up like one so after a little play on photoshop this is what i have come up with so far

You do know its illegal to have the number on your door for road use right?
Im sure Dyno or some one will explain why.
You need to have it striked out. (bodge tape!)
Im probably talking balls, Iv not read the words so your prolly just tracking it...i'll jsut go eat my crisps now :P

ok managed to get a few little bits done, took off all the standard inlet to sell and try to fund a bit of this project

The rest of the engine will soon be coming out going to do a top end rebuild and give the engine and engine bay a really good clean and a coat of paint !

My throttle bodies are with colin as we speak having the inlet manifold made and trumpets fitted so i thought i would empty the back of my car as it has been used as a bit of a shed for the last couple of months !!

As i started to take all the crap out i decided that the inside of the car really could do with a tidy up and a coat of paint so out come the seats

And the dash and i started to mask up and started to re-paint my cage as i done a rush job when i first fitted it !!

that is all i have done today i will keep you updated

ok made a little more progress today as the weather was ok, got my new springs fitted and gave the struts a few coats of black hammerite while they were off

then i got rid of the tar shite in the footwells

And managed to get a coat of primer on.

Then i decided to trail fit my oil cooler just so i can work out where to mount it
looks like i am going to have to get a slimline fan and put it on the engine bay side of the rad if i want to mount the oil cooler like this, it is in the ideal position as it is right behind the grill bit on the XSI bumper.

thats all for now hopefully some more progress at the weekend !!

ok bit of a update, decided to pop the sump off just to check everything is ok, and i found a lot of shite and a couple of big metal chunks caught in the gause for the oil pump pick up, so i have decided to do a compleate strip down, just to be on the safe side, and good job i did, big end and main bearings were quite badly warn from oil starvation, will get some pics up later.

ok a whole load of progress today mainly clening bits and making sure it is all ready to go back together.
Pistons laid out as they were removed from the block

and all the other bits

then stripped the oil pump down to make sure it is ok and found this

sorry for the bad picture but basically something has been round my engine and taken chunks out of things,
and all the shite cought up in the gause

Luckely my mate had a old VTS block so we took the oil pump out of that and it was ok apart from having the head gasket let go a while ago so was full of nastyness

next we finished stripping the block and gave it a big clean and degrease

and the we honed the bores to clean them up

Bore on the left before honed, right after honed

Some random cleaning shots

Some bad casting from the factory on the inlet port

And everything cleaned and laid out ready to go back together

Comments welcome

then managed to give it all a couple of coats of paint

and decided i need to fit the oil cooler just to make sure it will all fit together properly, i had already decided where i wanted it and luckely it fitted quite easily

and with the oil pipe run

and finally with the bumper back on

sorry for the bad phone pics, more updates coming soon !!

its going to be a full rallye replica, 4 stud conversion and i think im going to do a 1.6 8 valve with either throttle boddies or bike carbs. 1st job is a new rear wing and bonnet to get the bodywork up to scratch. your car looks amazing under the bonnet naw . well done

cheers mate but it has not been cheap ! if i was to do something like this again i would have started with a higher speced model to begin with, i must have spent something like 9k with me doing all the work on it, so i hope you have deep pockets lol.
Good luck mate a look forward to see your progress.
