Mondello Park 17th March

There is an open day planned in Mondello Park on Fri 17th March, i have emailed them asking what all goes on and if it is possible to have a go on the track with our cars. When i get word back i'll let you know whats happening.

So who all would be up for a road trip and meet up?

I'd be on for a meet up, don't think I'll be going on track though, but if anyones going on I wouldn't mind a passenger seat for a few laps

Got this reply back today from Mondello.

Its a car track day where you can bring your car on circuit. There are three groups of 25 so you will be out on circuit at all times with 24 other drivers.

the Morning session starts at 10 & you must be here for 08.30, the afternoon session starts at 2.00 & you must be here for 12.30.

For further details please contact Ian Beatty in the office.

I'd be on for going down anyway. I'm sure there would be some nice motors there.
We could meet up around 11. then get some dinner and see what turns up on the track after that.

Bit OT (Not for tomorrow) but had been looking at Mondello as a potential trackday this year. Looks good on paper, how highly rated is the circuit? Anyone have experience to compare it with any of the English circuits? Would be an expensive one as would include a ferry trip for me

No word from Chris yet, so i'll meet you at the Red Cow inn carpark at around 11.15 -11.30. I'll leave Monaghan at 10.00 so should be up there in about an hour or so depending on traffic.

Sorry Chris, i didnt check on the site before i left this morning.

At least we all made it there anyway. Pitty the weather was so cold and wet, but it was a good day out. Think we'll leave the next one till the weather warms up tho...

Cheers Darren for taking me throught Dublin, only for you i'd still be there looking for the M1.

It was a good day I thought, a bit cold though. We got some looks I think!

Did you see those girls taking pictures of us in Dublin Wayne? Stephen was trying to chat them up and wanted me to turn around, that lad loves the car.

was that at a junction, then we turned down to the left ? You should have pulled over and gave them a spin in the rallye...

Can't believe i missed that.

Yea the junction where we turned left and then a quick right, they walked by and then walked back and were standing there smiling and waving. Maybe should have pulled in and given them a spin.

Next time we'll stop they're probably going to get the picture blown up to hang on their bedroom wall I reckon

Mondello have them pretty much every month, I might see about getting some tyres first though.

I was looking for a GTI missing it's back arches but didn't see one, I think Wayne spotted one though?

There were a good few GTIs I though and the amount of DC-5s was unreal, never seen so many at once before!

We might go out next time? The morning session is €150 for 10:00 to 13:00, not that bad I think.

Just to echo this, Can anyone rate this circuit alongside a good track in the UK such as Oulton Park?

Looks good on the videos I have seen and one that I can imagine suits the 106 well.

Thx

I've never actually been on the track myself, but i have heard alot of good words from people about it.
Its one of the events on the BTCC calander, so it must be up there with the best of them that the UK has to offer.
Maybe it would be worth coming over to one of the track days that are on at the end of each month. Mondello isn't that far out side of Dublin if you got a cheap ferry across.
